^Yea, I'd blame Frank Miller a little more because at least Moore's work justified the nihilism with his artistic and philosophical ambitions. Miller, especially with Sin City, seemed to revel in cruelty for the sake of (I am a huge fan of his Batman: Year One, it's definitely a classic).
