First issues are still desirable on the collector's market.

It seems that one of my local Wal-Marts heard me cause as soon as I walked in today, they had the Swamp Thing Special in a separate display.

I haven't seen any issue #4 at any of my local Wal-Marts. The only new thing for me in October was the Swamp Thing special

All issues #4 hit one of my Wal-Mart stores this past weekend. Also, it seems that whoever is distributing this picked up all overstock of issues 1-3 to return them to DC or someone.

From what I've read, DC isn't doing returns for these. Maybe that's changed? I heard reports that some of the older issues are being marked for discount at some stores.
I'm happy to hear they're finally removing the older issues tho. My local Wal-Marts are a mess now that they've moved the books from the top shelf to under the key chains. When I picked up my #4s last week, whoever stocked the latest books just tossed them behind the display cases so I ended up cleaning this area up. I had to clear out all the keychains from the display above. Put all back issues behind the DC display case and moved all the current issues up front.

I’ve seen the older comic “exclusives” from Walmart, those Showcase magazines and the multi-packs discounted, but not these new runs yet. Goal is to find the Batman #4 and then stop buying these. I hope.

Hitting Wal-Mart this weekend - World's Greatest Super-Heroes Holiday Special.
It will include an exclusive The Flash story by the Teen Titans team of Scott Lobdell, Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund called Twas the Riot Before Christmas.
It will also include Tom King and David Finch’s Bat-Hound story Good Boy, from the 2016 Batman Annual telling the story of how Ace The Bat Hound came to Wayne Manor.
K!llin’ Time by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and the late great Darwyn Cooke from the 2014 Harley Quinn Holiday Special.
Supergirl story All I Want for Christmas by Joe Kelly and Ale Garza, from the 2006 DC Infinite Holiday Special.
Two stories from the 2016 DC Rebirth Holiday Special, A Light in the Dark, a Batwoman story by Kate Perkins and Paolo Pantalena…
The Epiphany, a Green Lanterns story with Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz by Steve Orlando, Vita Ayala and V. Ken Marion.
And finally Metropolis Mailbag by Dan Jurgens and Jackson “Butch” Guice from 1992’s Superman #22.

^ Holiday comics are my jam, that’s a must buy. Would have preferred more stuff from older non-reprinted books, but looks like a nice mix nonetheless.
Well, I’ve been threatening to quit these books from the start, since I own all the originals and the new stuff will be collected, but I’m failing so far. I found the Batman #4, thanks again for the offer Red Hood.
I’ve only read pieces of a handful of the 17 books so far, maybe I should finally sit down and read at least one full issue.

Surprisingly, my closest Wal-Mart had the Holiday Special on the shelf.

Nothing at mine yet. Disappointed because my closest store usually has the books up by Saturday. A bit worried that they're going to stop stocking them on a regular basis because previous issues haven't sold. There are stacks of each Issue #3 and 4. They also have limited copies of each #1 and 2.

The first issues actually have some collectible value going by eBay.
I have noticed that some locations are very erratic in putting these books out.

I wonder if Wal-Marts are rotating stock around. Like if they are sending unsold copies to different wal-marts and see if they sell in a new location.

I picked up my first one, the holiday special, basically as a stocking stuffer for my son (after I read it, to make sure it's ok for him, of course).

Re: DC partners with Walmart
Found a copy at another Wal-Mart on the way to work. Their DC section is much cleaner. Not as much clutter as my normal store. Looks like the books are actually selling at this one.

Re: DC partners with Walmart
It's my understanding that Walmart doesn't actually stock this section. An outside company that handles this "kids" section for Walmart has partnered with DC itself.
I actually think the company that manages this area brought in DC as a lure for comic book fans, hoping they'll purchase other things from the section as well.

Re: DC partners with Walmart
I found all #5 issues for each title last week at Wal-Mart. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to release dates on this and which stores are receiving stock. I don't know if these books are selling either cause some store still have backstock while others apparently sell out quickly.
Archie on the other hand canceled their Marvel Digest books they were releasing on Newsstands. My guess is that the price point of $6.99 was too high for this project.
