I read some scuttlebutt that it was mostly Marvel that ended things, hence me assuming it wasn’t all that profitable for them. But yeah, this will likely fail badly for those owners.

I had already wondered why Marvel let Conan end at 25 issues. Why go to all the trouble to get it back and then only produce for 2-3 years? King Conan has been great, but there was a gap in between series.

Agree with Hood, good luck to this new company on self publishing

This says Marvel decided not to renew, which is wild to me.

Heroic Signatures CEO Fred Malmberg confirms that is, in fact, the case.

"We had a wonderful run with Marvel Comics but ultimately they have decided not to extend their license beyond this year," the executive tells ComicBook.com. "Conan has more than 50 years of comic book publishing. We took the decision to pick up the baton ourselves, not only for Conan but all the other wonderful characters and IP that we control. The publishing program will commence next year but exact details are not final yet."

It's unclear what this means for the character's future in the Savage Avengers title, which is launching its latest volume this Wednesday featuring the Barbarian serves as its anchor character. Malmberg adds that he hopes Heroic and Marvel are able to work out a deal to have the character still appear.

"We enjoy a great relationship with Marvel and hope to do cross overs and that Conan will appear now and then in Savage Avengers but nothing is planned as of this moment," the executive adds.
They will probably have IDW distribute

I liked the Dark Horse run but haven’t read that much of it. Mostly I’m interested in the classic stuff, so I guess I’m still good there.

I liked The Frost Giant’s Daughter from The Cimmerian but have heard that the series is uneven in quality.

Any idea what the sales are like?

The big thing to me is that they are able to still publish trades of what they already put out, otherwise there's a bunch of Avengers stuff that they wouldn't be able to use anymore.

Now use that saved money and go license Rom for a couple of years (and Micronauts), Marvel.

Digital sale on Conan, including omniboo, before Marvel loses the rights.

I think I bought everything when Dark Horse had a similar sale before they lost the rights.

Maybe I’ll pick up the new Marvel stuff now. Maybe I’ll read past issue one on the older stuff someday…

Apparently there is an Adventures of Red Sonja omnibus coming too, it is up for pre-order on Amazon.
