I don't really remember but I think Frank did a decent job or keeping a schedule on Midnight Nation. He was fine on Incredible Hulk. It seems like the issue with timeliness has gotten much worse. Jim Lee was fine on Uncanny when he was young with no outside obligations, then life happens and they can't keep a schedule to save their lives.

I think that is closer to the truth than we'd like to admit.

I've noticed that empty spaces in the art are far more common in modern comic books than 20 or 30 years ago. I wish DC editorial would limit splash pages. They should be banned in the Green Lantern books.

According to the May solicitations, Supersons and Birds of Prey are being cancelled. From my understanding, Supersons was doing pretty well sales wise but it seems that Bendis coming aboard Superman titles led to the nix.

In other news, Mad Magazine is rebooting with a new #1 coming in April.

I'm devastated about the loss of Supersons, mostly because it implies with the coming of Bendis they might just retcon Jon entirely from continuity as Superman's son or some other drastic measure. Superman is one of my favorites and the Rebirth era has been deeply satisfying to my preferred sensibilities of the character. I am anxious what happens after Action Comics #1000.

Besides the two you mentioned, Bombshells and Supergirl are also getting canceled. Some think Harley Quinn is also getting canceled for some kind of soft reboot of the character.

Jesus... is there still a market for MAD Magazine?

I really don't see kids giving a shit about it, and the humor seems like something that any potential adult readers would have outgrown a long time ago.

Tomasi just tweeted that Supersons is not gone forever. Maybe a new Young Justice?

I've picked an issue here and there and the type of humor still the same in that they satirize politicians, pop culture and the news among other things, but the quality is not there anymore. A big problem that Mad has had over the past 10 years is the lose of the newsstand revenue, in part because DC sells the magazine directly through Diamond to comic book stores.

Some have suggested Superboy joins the Teen Titans.

There is an unannounced Supersons crossover special coming with Blue Falcon and Dynomutt.

DC is going to be profiling the artwork more in the variant books by minimizing the trade dress for the books.

The landmark Action Comics #1000 comes out Wednesday at comic book stores. Lots of snazzy variant covers are available - though many of the better ones are already sold out.

Pre-ordered mine, think I chose the Steve Rude cover.

I might get the newsstand edition too. Many months ago, one of the magazine sites had a sale on DC comic subscriptions. Iirc, it was roughly $10-14 per title. I vaguely remember subscribing to a handful, but then forgot about it and nothing arrived for many months. But starting about two weeks ago, DC comics have been arriving in the mail at the rate of over 1 a day. The pile is maybe 40 high now, and I have no idea what to expect. Did they send the issues from a year ago? Did I subscribe to more titles than I thought? It’ll be a fun surprise hopefully.

Those magazine sales always take months and months to deliver the first time. I've actually had a couple instances where I forgot ordering them and they would just show up.

Bleeding Cool has a feeling that has been talked about before online about the Martian Manhunter and I believe it may lead to the big reveal of the Rebirth storyline

Spoiler:
Is DC Gearing Martian Manhunter Up to Be Their Big Bad? [Spoilers]
https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/07...unter-big-bad/
I got a feeling that Jonn is/or has been Dr. Manhattan since DC's Brightest Day, were the Martian Manhunter was reborn after being killed during Final Crisis. IT would make sense too as the last place we saw Dr. Manhattan was in Mars and DC has kept sending hints that he's been hiding in the DC Universe as someone else for a while.

Why just get a blank cover comic when you can get a completely blank comic for 2.99? for instance, the batman one:

https://www.dccomics.com/comics/dc-b...-blank-comic-1

It's for something called "24 hour comics day" where the challenge is to draw a comic in 24 hours. One problem (other than paying for blank pages): the "official" contest rules are 24 pages and these are only 16 pages:

This could be cool to take to shows and have artists draw on it.

I've been hearing the same rumors for awhile. It does feel like something Geoff Johns would consider.

Spoiler:
Now that Martian Manhunter has more or less lost his place in the Justice League to Cyborg, the character has been floundering around various areas of the DC Universe. I actually think it's not a bad way to go with the character. I will admit that I've never been a big fan of MM and think he's been overpowered far too long.

Spoiler:

I'm a huge fan of the Martian Manhunter since I was a kid and always felt he's been underutilized. Loved the way Timm and Dini used him in the Justice League cartoon and hated that around 5-7 years ago the powers that be at DC dismissed the character as someone who didn't deserve their time. I hate that Johns has forced Cyborg down people's throat as part of the comic book JL and then the film series. Cyborg feels completely out of place in this setting.

I hope this is the beginning of bringing back Jonn to a position of prominence in DC Universe. To me, he's always been the central figure for the team, their constant.

I’m confused about the speculation on this.

Spoiler:
Are you saying MM is pretending to be Dr M and that Dr M never actually had anything to do with any of this after all?

Why would MM do that and how would he have the powers of Dr Manhattan?
I haven’t read any of these books so maybe I’m not getting the gist of it.

Or Dr Manhattan has been pretending to be MM?

If you're a fan of MM, this honestly doesn't sound very promising.

Spoiler:

Dr. M infiltrating the ranks of the DC universe by pretending to be MM. This Bleeding Cool article shows panels with MM from last year's book that has striking similarities to panels with Dr M in Watchmen

I think it would be a good twist if at the end we get the real MM back in the fold.

I'm still super confused about what changed with Rebirth, but basically MM was not a founding member of the Justice League, we're still going with the new 52 version of that, right?

Yes, MM was rejected as a member of the team so he went to form Stormwatch. He later joined Waller's version of the JLA.

http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/J%27onn_J%27onzz_(Prime_Earth)

Rebirth still going from what happened in the New 52 with Barry Allen, Wally West (white one), Johnny Thunder, Batman and the pre-New 52 Superman knowing that there's something wrong with the current universe.
