Forgot to mention that when I was really little, because of that Superman/Spidey crossover, it took a while for me to realize that the two didn't share a universe, and that Marvel and DC were separate.

Re: Intercompany Crossovers (i.e. DC v Marvel, Archie Meets The Punisher, Spawn/Batma

During the 90s, I was a big fan of the Ultraverse. Reading some of those books now makes me realize how most of them were pretty BLEH! But some still hold up (like the original Mantra). When Marvel bought Malibu (to keep it out of DC's hands), they started filtering in a lot of Marvel characters (Juggernaut was the leader of the Exiles, Black Knight joined Ultraforce). Technically, the crossovers aren't "intracompany" since they were released by one parent company but the lead up to Black September still had the fun of different heroes from two universes meeting for the first time. Plus, the Ultraforce/Avengers crossover was well done. Especially Malibu's portion.

Basically, Loki was searching for the Infinity Gems which Rune has carried over from the Marvel Universe. They scattered and various Ultraverse heroes find the Gems and encounter Loki. In the midst of it, a 7th Infinity Gem (the Ego Gem) is discovered hidden in the Ultraverse which, when joined with the other gems, becomes a sentient being named Nemesis. Then the big Ultraforce/Avengers crossover that ends with the Ultraverse getting rebooted. Then it died a slow, painful death as a shadow of its former self.

Man, I ate that shit up! I got everything that was part of the storyline including the "∞" aftermath titles.

I enjoyed a lot of the Ultraverse too, but don't remember that crossover at all. Must have been during one of my sabbaticals.

I think Prime, Rune, Sludge, and The Strangers were the titles I bought.

It didn't get very good reviews, but I just noticed that the DC/Wildstorm crossover, Dreamwar, was only $.99 an issue on Comixology.

I think the only crossover issues I own are the Batman Versus Predator series. The idea for crossovers always sounds cooler than they actually turn out. I'm sure it'll never happen and with the way the DC films are turning out I'm not sure I'd want it to happen anyways, but it'd be cool if we could get a crossover film between DC and Marvel.

The only chance we had to ever see that happen is dead in the water now that Fox isn't buying Warner Bros.

I remember when that deal fell through, I hadn't even considered the ramifications if Fox and WB had merged for movies.

I don't think so.

For Authority, all you need to read is (in order):

Stormwatch v1 #37-50
Stormwatch v2 #1-10
WildCATs vs Aliens
Stormwatch v2 #11
Authority #1-12

The WildCATs vs Aliens is a critical part of Ellis' greater saga, and is just as much, if not more, about Stormwatch as it is WildCATs.

For Planetary:

Planetary #1-27
Short story that appeared in a couple of Wildstorm titles.
Planetary vs Authority
Planetary vs JLA
Planetary vs Batman

(Though the three crossover books aren't really essential.)

Thanks Josh, you da m... uh... you know!

That's looks easy enough to track down, I probably own most of it already. Will wait for a compliant Challenge to look thru those boxes.

Is there a "Dig Through Your Boxes" Challenge? I'm organizing this weekend and am going to pull most of the boxes out of the room to put things in order. I'm pulling out my un-read boxes and may pull something out to read.

Shit. I got a lot of comics.

It's DC this month; I bet you find some in there.

There really would have only been potential for limited crossovers though. X-Men and Fantastic Four would be all and Fox doesn't even crossover the characters they own (yet at least). It would be a much bigger deal if Disney would have been up to buy Warner or something.

Look what just popped up for pre-order on Amazon:

http://amzn.com/0857688251

The DC/Marvel Crossover Classics Omnibus: v. 1 - Collects the classic tales that date back to the mid-1970s which pit heroes like Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, The Hulk, The Punisher and others against each other - and each other's greatest foes.

I believe this has been solicited in the past, only to get pulled.

DC and IDW announced a Star Trek - Green Lantern crossover starting in July. STAR TREK/GREEN LANTERN: THE SPECTRUM WAR will be 6 issues.

I recently read the Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover, which was technically not intracompany, but definitely intrafranchise. It was fun, especially a flashback to the Fourth Doctor encountering TOS crew.

No love for the Batman/Judge Dredd crossovers?

Not exactly intercompany, but I just recently found out that there was a crossover between Punisher and Eminem?!? I didn't think it could get more weird than him crossing over with Archie.

I still remember the panels when Spidey sat in the Batmobile for the first time. Classic !

Which if I remember correctly that book was the precursor to DC vs Marvel...

There were 2 Batman/Spider-Man crossovers. One was before DC vs. Marvel and one was after.

1995

1997

The recent Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover presented an interesting solution to a large plot hole/scienctific problem with the Apes movies.

I think Batman and Spider-Man are an odd pairing. Batman is just about the last DC hero I would pair up with Spidey. I would pay for the Elongated Man and Spider-Man in a team-up.

I believe it was in the 1995 version. There was a hint to DC v Marvel as well as in the Green Lantern (Kyle) and Silver Surfer crossover.

I remember I loved the panels where Spidey first sits in the Batmobile as well as the size difference they made apparent between them in the art for the 1995 one..

I know some of these have already been mentioned, yet the list is interesting... I googled to find an article like this just after I checked out the Legion of Superheroes crossover from the library, which by the way I read all the way through in one sitting as I enjoyed it that much....

I've read the first X title almot 20 years ago.. Gotta read that again... Looking forward to reading them all...

For anyone not reading Archie Vs. Predator - I'm surprised that they're using the traditional Archie-style while slaughtering the characters. Afterlife With Archie uses a more realistic version of the cast but the Predator crossover has traditional-styled characters getting their spines ripped out.

One of the comics I picked up at SDCC this weekend - The Savage Sub-Mariner #72 which is the second part of an unofficial crossover with DC (Aquaman #56 is the first part).
