She just likes Superman because he is a television reporter.

Lichtenstein really tells you everything you need to know about how full of shit the "fine art" world is.

Russ Heath was just an asshole who drew comic books for pennies. Lichtenstein is an artist who found beauty in a vulgar medium, copied it, got his ass kissed, and made bank off of it.

I always wondered why none of the publishers or the artists themselves sued Lichtenstein. That asshole, among others, were just ripping off panels from comic books and calling them their own.

Same sort of deal with deal Disney making billions off the MCU or Warners making a mint off of Batman. Most of the artists and writers are dead, but the ones that are still around aren't millionaires.

Yeah, it's really amazing. He was, literally, a plagiarist, just taking images and dialog directly from a comics page and putting his name on it. He became famous and wealthy off of the talent and work of others.

He was an even bigger con artist than Warhol and his fucking soup cans.

I just re-read Power Girl. Amanda Conner draws Superman like a big boy scout.

Wow...they literally picked the worst Byrne portrait of Superman I have ever seen.

Yeah, a few of those portraits for Supes aren't ideal examples of each artist's work. Even the Swan choice is janky.

On the topic of covers, I thought the pre-sale image (virgin?) of Action Comics 1035 was quite nice and touching - and then the actual issue came out and it looks very cluttered.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

^Yeah, the composition is such that all of the empty space at the top implies flight with the figure reflected in the window.

And then filled all of that space up with the Action Comics logo, the DC bullet, the title(?) of the issue, and the title of the back-up story, and it just pulls your eye all over it.

Though the artist who made it didn't seem to leave much room to put the "Action Comics" title at the top without cutting into the frame created by the window.
