Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

So I lucked out this time, bought 5 packages and got all 4 comics! Anecdotal evidence only, but I only saw the promotion on the Frosted Cherry and Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon varieties, and in my limited sample size, the Gotham comics were in the cherry packages, and JLU issues were in other.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

Those actually look like promotional comics worth owning and I loathe Pop-Tarts.

In Walmart-related news, they have three-packs for $5 featuring various DC Rebirth #1 issues. They are focused on one character like Batman or Wonder Woman.

I forgot to put something in the pic for scale; these things are tiny, like fit in your palm tiny.

So far, I've only found 2 boxes of Chocolate Pop-Tarts at my Wal-Mart. One had Justice League Part Two and the other had Batman Part Two. Now on the hunt for both Part One's.

I think both of my extras were 2s, but I'll end up buying more most likely, and any you need are yours.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

Hmmm, somewhere in the last few days I saw a post about a new round of promo mini comics, exclusive to either WM or Target. But I guess it wasn't here......

I don't eat cereal but I admit that Honey Nut Cheerios box with the bee dressed up as Batman is a cool-looking promo.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

I got Lucky Charms and Honey Nut Cheerios last night.

Haven't seen the other three yet. (Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Multi-Grain Cheerios)

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

Are the comics specific to the cereal types? That'd be great if they went to that model from now on.

I think we got two Honey Nut Cheerios and each one had a different comic.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

It's a smart move by DC. Most kids eat cereal and you basically have to trick kids into picking up comic books these days. For many kids it will be the first comic book they ever physically handle.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

I've only found them in family size Cocoa Puffs so far, have only bought two and opened one so far. Given that I still have ~10 boxes on possibly expired cereal in my pantry, I should probably give up this quest.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

I recently learned that younger comic fans mockingly call Geoff Johns the Cereal King. Apparently he's a big fan of breakfast cereals and a few years ago was asked to leave a grocery store after taking pics of them.

That Multi-Grain Cheerios box looks out of place. They should've just done four flavors, or replaced the mascots on the other four with the real heroes.

My favorite part is "I did say I was getting stuff to watch cartoons and that I wrote comics. He asked what. I said Aquaman. He was not impressed but I got the milk anyway."
