Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

So I failed big time at being "out" on this run. After multiple checks and little success at finding these, saw them in multiple sizes and varieties at a Walmart yesterday so bought 4 more boxes.

Forgot milk, doh! Stop at grocery store near home and they had Lucky Charms with the comics 4 for $10.

I've opened 7 of the 10 boxes. All are issues 1 or 2.

I guess they decided that Wonder Woman Multi-Grain Cheerios box looked out of place too. I found this today in Wal-Mart.

They had the Wonder Woman Cheerios too.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

I'm visiting family in Arizona and stopped by the local Wal-Mart. They had the Lucky Charms and Trix boxes which I've never seen in CA. I bought one of each and ended up with two #3s. Still trying to track down #2.

Maybe that issue is hiding in the Cocoa Puffs which I still haven't found.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

Got #2 this weekend in a random box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I was expecting another duplicate so I was surprised when I got the last one to complete my set.

It's the little things.

^ Sweet (literally)! Hopefully I'll luck into a complete set once I open these last few boxes.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

Perhaps it's of interest to some of you, but you could double dip on promotions. I picked up some of the Honey Nut Cheerios this week because I knew my son would enjoy the comics. Then I submitted the receipt for a movie ticket. Details found below:

http://rewards.tpgrewards.com/generalmillscerealmo/

Yes, I realize that the movie ticket indicates it needs to be specially marked boxes, but store receipts have no way to indicate such. I did, however, make sure to get the size listed for the movie ticket promo.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

I’ve been meaning to bump this thread just to see if anyone has seen anything comic-related in other avenues lately, and I know these Target comics aren’t really promo books, and we’re discussing them in the Walmart thread, but posting here anyway because I’m a rebel.

Two of the Targets I hit had the figures and castle on the end cap but no comic. One other had just the figures on a shelf. Two haven't put their stock out yet. I'm sure this means this comic will start showing up at other Targets in the next couple of weeks.

This Target had 9 comics. Five had some top cover damage. Two were in decent shape. Two were what I would consider NM. If you can't wait for your Target to stock them, lemme know.

Found some last night and bought 5. Hoping to just return 4 of them in 89 days, but if any of you need some and can’t find them, I’ll send them you’re way for cost/shipping.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

New promo comic available at Dollar General - Spider-Man: Far From Home. It's a Kellogg's promotion. You get this comic free with every box of Kellogg's cereal you buy at Dollar general. They have a side display with cereal boxes and the comic in the center of the display.

However.... If you don't want cereal, you can buy the comic for 02¢. Flippers are already flipping these on eBay for $8 to $13. I'm near a couple of Dollar Generals and grabbed a few for myself and any Forum member who isn't near a Dollar General. I'm not a fan of flipping. I would prefer these going to people who actually care about comics. If you're not near a Dollar General or they've been wiped out, PM me. I'll send you a copy.

Print run is supposedly a half a million copies. So the flipping should die down after awhile. My Dollar General had tons. It's a normal sized comic.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

Thanks Valeyard! I’m “blessed” to have three Dollar Generals in my town.

The first two had none. They had endcaps on the cereal aisles with Kellogg’s product, but no signage or empty display stands. Employees at the store knew nothing, but then, I was pretty sure asking was a waste of time on promotions like these.

Success at the third store. Endcap on the cereal aisle had two displays stands (sorta like the Walmart ones) chock full of the thin comics. Rang up at two cents each, bought other groceries but no cereal.

Barnes & Noble has an exclusive Spider-Man promo comic book for free if you buy any Marvel graphic novel or trade. I came across a small table display for it yesterday.

My local store had these behind the check-out counter. Nothing on them that I can see indicates a B&N exclusive, seems like one of Marvel’s typical free preview books that appear from time to time.

Mostly ads, a few pages of interviews, a couple sketch pages of the new Black Cat issue 1, and short 2-3 page previews of the Amazing Spider-Man Hunted collection, Spider-Man City at War ogn, and Symbiote Spider-Man ogn.

This figure includes a mini replica of Detective Comics 27 (only the Batman story), so I imagine many would like to add it to their collection

Huh. I saw that the other day and didn't notice it came with a comic. Should probably pick it up since Mattel DC products are being clearanced out.

Fwiw, I check the cereal aisles out of habit nearly every time I go to a Target, Walmart, or grocery store, and have seen no comic book promotions for a couple years.

Aren't they usually timed to comic book movies? Batman v Superman had cereal promotions all over the place.

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

Bleeding Cool has a story today of a promotional comic book of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 1 that was supposed to be given away at Circuit City with a copy of the DVD. The book wasn’t given away after someone at Circuit City read it, so almost all of the 50K copies of the print run were destroyed.... except for a comp copy that is now on auction

Re: Promotional Comics - cereal boxes, etc

So was the LOEG promo fresh content that has never seen the light of day, or simply reprinting an earlier issue?
