Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?

I just read the first trade of the new 52 Wonder Woman.

It's not "omg! this is the best thing ever!", but it was good enough to buy the next set when it hits my $1/issue pricepoint.

I read Andre the Giant: Life and Legend. Highly recommended if you are a fan of Andre or older wrasslin in general, but it probably wouldn't do much for you otherwise.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?

ok being i been reading comics again for almost a yr i figured id dive into some Xmen titles as i always enjoyed the characters as a child i never knew what was going on.

I read Xmen vs Apocalypse the twelve and ages of apocalypse volumes and enjoyed the 12 not so much the second volume outside the main story. way to much back and fourth of too many factions i know about but never followed. just seemed like alot of filler.

next up maximum secruity

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?

Almost through with the Infinity Companion HC. I was a bit disappointed that it did not contain a digital copy (the Infinity Omnibus did, along with the Avengers Vs X-men Omni and Companion HCs), as I rarely buy compilations like this one if they do not contain digital copies. I like to redeem the digital copy, and only read the book on comixology, so I basically end up reselling a new copy on eBay (I always fully disclose that I redeem any digital codes that come with the Marvel Now HCs and certain omnibus editions).

Sex Criminals....my god what a great book. I felt Fraction was writing parts of my life through his words. But what a solid and entertaining book. For $9.99 you really cannot beat it.

Just finished the first Think Tank collection. Pretty entertaining, think I'll pick up the next.

And when I went to put it on the shelf I realized I already had an older version of this book. Later in the day I was looking at my DCBS orders and realized I have the IDW Artist's Edition on order as well. Talk about overkill.

That's what our exchange thread is for!

I have at least a dozen books to put up in there once I get organized.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?

About half-way through the acclaimed Rick Remender Uncanny X-Force Omnibus.

Completed this on Monday (I had a vacation day), and holy cow it was incredible. I had heard good things about the Remender run on this title, however, for one reason or another it was one of a small handful of Marvel titles I did not grab when they first came out in tpb/hc format. I may have to look into picking the Age Of Apocalypse mini that this series spun-off, because if it is half as good as the AOA story in this omnibus, I will be a happy camper.

I just finished this as well, and then dove into the AoA series using Marvel Unlimited. The AoA series was ok, but very different... in the Uncanny X-Force issue, the main characters lose their powers, and you start following a human contingent. Unfortunately, it ends in an odd crossover with some Xtreme X-men title with Dazzler and a bunch of multiverse versions of mutants and kind of ending the AoA Nightcrawler arc, which seemed like a bunch of nonsense to me.

But Remender's Uncanny X-Force run was really great. Did you read the earlier X-Force run (which they recapped in a feature at the end of the omnibus)?

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?

Fujishig, I have not read all of the earlier run, however, I believe that many of those issues were part of an x-crossover event or two that I purchased and read, so I am familiar with a fair amount of the first run (and there was a lot of really nice Clayton Crain art to gape at).

I actually appreciate your heads up on what to expect if I dive into the mini (I gave Marvel Unlimited a shot last November when they were offering some b-Friday type deals, so I should head on over and take a glance at the AOA mini series).

Daytripper HC - Wonderful book, great story and beautiful artwork (you cannot go wrong with these creators: Fabio Moon, Gabriel Ba). The HC contains 10 issues, plus some extras.

I just finished off the second Simonson Thor Visionaries trade. I still wonder how I had never read these before my friend gave me all his trades when he bought the omnibus. Really good stuff!

Working my way through - The End Times of Bram & Ben TP, and the hype surrounding this books witty story and artwork is well-deserved.

I May be wrong but I think that this printing has extra material not found in the older white cover printing.

Working my way through Thor God of Thunder 1, a Simonson Thor trade, and the She Hulk Ultimate Collection.

Today I'm finishing up the first IDW trade of Ghostbusters. Fun stuff so far, and perhaps the closest we'll get to a Ghostbusters 3.

From the same team that did Marvel's Tomb of Dracula, but this time for Dark Horse and not related to that series.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?

I ran across this trade in a shop and got a flashback to when I read it as a new anthology series. Sorry, LCBS, but I wasn't going to pay $20 new when a used copy from Hastings was perfectly fine for just scratching the itch. This volume is the first seven issues, and they were all familiar to me. Wiki says the series ran 60 issues so I wonder how long I stuck with it. I do remember that it was in a "premium" glossy format.

The main arc is a multi-issue story of Spider-Man and the X-Men in the Savage Land, then there are short one-offs of Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, etc. The art by Michael Golden and others is probably better than the writing, but I liked reading it.

I always felt that Fanfare was a showcase for art more than anything else.
