Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?
Thor Omnibus by J. Michael Straczynski, Marko Djurdjevic and Olivier Coipel. I bought this over 2 years ago, and only got the time to finish it yesterday
Very good story, but the ending was, well, not an ending, but a cliffhanger. Now where can I find the rest of the story?
Anyway, it's been a while since I've read comics. But I was so happy to do so again, that I then ordered a couple more books at Amazon, The New Avengers Omnibus and Ultimate Spider-Man Omnibus. I actually have quite a few of the Spider-Man series already, but I figure it would be worth it to have the Omnibus.
Next on my reading list is Captain America Omnibus. Another one purchased 2 years ago as well

I don't remember exactly where the JMS Thor Omnibus leaves off, but I remember that whole storyline kinda petering out and then JMS just leaves Thor (to go on and ruin Superman). I think Kieron Gillen does the next run (including Siege) before Matt Fraction starts.
Which Cap omnibus? If you're talking about Brubaker's excellent run, you should go out and get the sequel omnibus as well (I forget if there are two or three).

My sister is a huge fan of The Muppet Show. Thanks a lot, JasonF, for making me spend 40 clams on her birthday present.

So when you say 'Gillen does the next run', does it mean it continues the story or would it be a different arc?
Yes, Captain America Omnibus, Vol. 1 by Ed Brubaker. I didn't know there was a sequel for this as I don't see a volume 2 available. Are you referring to 'The Death of Captain America Omnibus? Doesn't seem to be in stock. Or Captain America Lives Omnibus?
Thanks.

It's a different arc, different writer, but continues from that cliffhanger, IIRC. And yes, I meant Death of Cap and Cap Lives. Shoot, I was hoping it wasn't out of stock, the main reason I suggested getting them now is because I was afraid they were going out of print, plus if you start Bru's cap run and don't want to continue on it, you're no comic book fan...

Batman: The Killing Joke (Deluxe Edition). I've owned and enjoyed the regular edition for years now...I've even got the "green text" first printing. It's pretty nice to have an alternate presentation of the story with the new coloring, but I still prefer the original psychedelic palette.

Saga: Vol. 1
I won Vol. 1 & 2 (along with one of my best friends) in a raffle at my friends' comic shop. I really love what I'm reading so far.

Currently working my way through Grant Morrison's runs on Batman and Doom Patrol.
I'm excited for the upcoming Doom Patrol Omnibus, but my bank account is not.

I recently finished off Batman: Odyssey. This one was kinda a turd. It was disappointing to say the least as demonstrated by it taking me a full week of before bed reading to finally polish it off.

I'm almost done with the Stray Bullets Uber Huge Whatever edition. Loving it and can't wait for a collection of the new series.

Damn, I was checking out the Stray Bullets thing and ran across a Saga HC coming out in December collecting the first 18 issues (trades 1-3). I already have the trades but this looks nice.
At long last, a deluxe hardcover of the Hugo Award-winning Saga is finally on its way! Collecting the first 18 issues of the smash-hit series, this massive edition features a striking new cover, as well as special extras, including never-before-seen sketches, script pages, and a roundtable discussion with the creators about how Saga is really made. Altogether, this hardcover contains over 500 pages for less than fifty bucks! Written by Eisner Award-winning "Best Writer" Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, The Private Eye) and drawn by Harvey Award-winning "Best Artist" Fiona Staples (Mystery Society, North 40) Saga is the story of Hazel, a child born to star-crossed parents from opposite sides of a never-ending galactic war. Now, Hazel's fugitive family must risk everything to find a peaceful future in a harsh universe that values destruction over creation. Collects the first three trade paperbacks of Saga (issues #1-24).

Yeah, I was just about to pick up the first few volumes, but then I saw how few issues they contained and was certain a bigger collection would soon follow.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?
I just finished the new Astro City: Through Open Doors hardcover. I love the series but Busiek slipped a little too easily into Marvels mode on these issues. Some of the stories are self-contained, it looks like he is setting something up to pay off down the line in a future collection. He introduces an Astro City take on Galactus, though frustratingly the character only makes a brief appearance.
The art is gorgeous, as usual. An interesting new character called American Chibi is introduced.

Just finished another wonderful Doug TenNapel graphic novel, Iron West. I'm hoping to use these to get my daughter hooked on comics, but not much luck so far.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you read?
Just this past weekend I finished Stray Bullets Uber Alles (all 1,194 pages), and I am starting in on the first volume of Freakangels.
I keep forgetting to bring up comics that I read via comixology - I also plowed through Jennifer Blood Volumes 2 and 3, Jennifer Blood: First Blood 1-6, and Spider-Man Family Business (I find that I can tear through digital comics much, much, much faster than I can when they are in print, no matter how wordy each page is).
