Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you bought?
When I was working on my Mile High Comics $400 order to get all the FCBD books, my initial plan was to get 5 or so Omnibuses or Absolutes. They actually had a bunch that were on sale and reasonably priced. But then I noticed a $15 per book surcharge for shipping. Yes, 400 $1 comics and the 51 book FCBD set they shipped me for free, but 5 hardcovers and the 51FCBD books they would have charged $75. I don't see how that makes any sense. 400 comicbooks has got to weight a heck of a lot more than 5 hardcovers.

That said, I probably wouldn't have paid $15 per either unless the discount compared to other places was at least that much better.

You would think the floppies would weigh more, but I'm not sure considering the hardcovers and glossy paper. Factor in the bulky size and likelihood of customer freakout if the books are damaged, and you can kind of understand the price of bomb-shelter packaging.

But a slight premium and $75? No thank you.

On topic, the last collection I read was Grendel Archives reprinting the first four appearance of Grendel.

Trevor, nice remarked edition! Also, kudos to you for being able to take advantage of a deal to get all 51 FCBD comics. The LCS I pick up floppies from does not participate in FCBD, but he does obtain a handful of FCBD books for regulars like myself, so I have a few titles waiting for me associated with books I have on pull list - the TMNT, Sonic, and Scooby-Doo/Teen Titans Team-Up books.

Just got this, the 5th and final Cap Omnibus from Brubaker which finishes up his amazing, near 100 issue, run on the book.
Now I'm gonna start at the beginning and read his run all the way through.

Damn, I have two omniboo and was wondering how long the run was. But then I've barely started the first so I won't put the cart before the horse yet.

I picked up the following during Free Comic Book Day:
Batman: Mad Love and Other Stories
Daredevil and Batman: Eye For An Eye
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy: Angela
I also pre-ordered:
The Amazing Spider-Man: Edge of Spider-Verse. I had picked up the first three issues of Spider-Gwen and wound up liking it a lot but wanted some backstory to what's happening with the Spider-Verse stuff.

The Thor and Iron Man I got used and cheap, under $15 each. I've read the first Iron Fist collection and really dug it, primarily for the stories about previous Iron Fists.

Finally bought and read Civil War. Interesting concept, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out in the Cap sequel next year. I get why it is a Cap movie and not an Avengers movie despite the cast. At its heart, it really is a Captain America story.

I got it pre ordered from talesofwonder. I love these Epic Collections. Going to get all the Thor, Surfer and Iron Fist I can get my hands on then start checking out other stuff.

Someone mentioned in another thread about how Marvel is really shortening their print runs for omnibuses in the past year. They weren't kidding, some of the ones I had been delaying can't be had anymore from Amazon or even Instocktrades.

Yeah, most Marvel Omnibuses seem to sell out in just a few months now, and alternate covers are gone in a day. That's why I've been pouncing on them the day they're available. That's when they're cheapest anyhow, so no big deal.

I just got the Busiek/Perez Avengers omnibus in the mail from instocktrades. If anyone's interested in that one, now's the time. I was going to pick it up at some point, but it's apparently on its way out of print even though it only came out last month.

I just got this one as well. I'm about 6 or 7 issues into his Spectacular Spider-Man run and so far I'm really enjoying it. I've never really given the secondary Spider titles a second thought, always assuming that if it didn't happen in Amazing that it didn't matter. I don't know if Stern's run is an aberration, but maybe I was wrong. It's also just possible that I'm a total sucker for early 80's Marvel.

Stern's Spiderman run is my favorite set of Spiderman stories (that is despite most of the art, which I don't much care for).
Just got this.
Such a cool cover, that I don't even care that it's sort of a spoiler.
