Re: What are the gems of your collection?

Mojo grew on me as a character. I remember picking up the OG Longshot mini series from my local comic store and loving the art and story that was being told.

Always felt Longshot was a character that should have clicked more than he did with the general comic reading audience.

Also, yes to a Jim Lee piece being a pretty good long term investment.

I do not want to be that guy who gets it into his head that investing in quality original comic art is a sure thing, but there would have to be a pretty major falling out with the publics appreciation of comic art for any crash in the amount that could be commanded for original art from top tier comic artists.

Re: What are the gems of your collection?

The new Heritage catalog showed up in the mail today. Here's Inhumans99's Spider-Man art on page 110.

There are a couple of other killer McFarlane Spider-Man pages in this auction. Hopefully that doesn't negatively affect the final price of your piece. It seems to be doing ok so far.

Re: What are the gems of your collection?

I need to check my mail today, I will so get a kick out of seeing my art listing in the catalog.

As you noted there are some really nice pieces that I can see them selling for at least 50-150k per piece when they get to the live auction event starting on the 21st.

My piece is at 12k already and I still have a shot at it cracking the 20k mark when the auction officially ends, and heck I am already over the moon thrilled that I have cleared 10k already.

ETA: Hey now, it is up to 15k!

20k is getting closer and closer by the day.

I still hope my Valentino piece gets closer to at least 1 grand when all is said and done but my McFarlane piece is more than making up for any sadness I have that my Valentino piece may sell for less than it cost me to buy and frame well over 20 years back, but I obviously have precious little to whine about, lol.

Oh, it will almost definitely blow past 20k. I wouldn't worry about that.

And I'd be stunned if the Valentino wasn't comfortably in the 4 figures by the time it ends.

Re: What are the gems of your collection?

I assume you also received the Howard Lowery Collection catalog, I am not going to bid on stuff but I was really impressed with the artwork contained in the catalog. Some really incredible paintings up for auction, and some sweet pulps. My Dad would have loved just perusing this catalog to enjoy the art contained especially the pulps (before he passed he had a neat pulp collection, including a lot of Pulps that contained Doc Smith stories before they were turned into books).

Many of his pulps have since been sold by my family (with his blessing a few years before he passed away), but I believe my brother may have up to 12 Pulps still in his home (especially the Doc Smith ones). I should ask him if he feels they are in still pretty good shape because I did not realize you could get pulps graded by CGC. That is also a great way to keep them intact by putting them in an archival quality holder that will mitigate their literally crumbling apart due to age.
