Marvel Relaunches In October With Marvel NOW

Time to watch the internet burn. Its not a full reboot like 52, but a lot of changes:

Re: Marvel Relaunches In October With Marvel NOW

It doesn't really seem like much of a re-launch; some new titles are added, and they say its a continuation of Avengers vs X-Men.

Seems like just one of those normal "shake things up with a big story arc!" type of deals that happens every few years. Or am I missing something?

Re: Marvel Relaunches In October With Marvel NOW

Nope, every year the "big event" shakes stuff up. Civil War, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Siege, etc. all came with new status quos (Hey, it's age of heroes!). For a trade-waiter like me, all that means is that by the time I finally feel like I'm catching up and liking the status quo, they change it, which is probably why I haven't been buying as many Marvel trades (well, that and the fact even the trade prices are ridiculous now). Seriously, Thor's back already?

At least they learned from DC and are not launching all their number 1s in a single month.

That Bendis/Immonen monthly, with the original 5 x-men brought into the present day, and it not being a mini series seems the weirdest to me. Is that how they're bringing Jean Grey back?

It was only a matter of time until Marvel tried copying DC's relaunch.

Is that a raccoon with a machine gun between Wolverine's legs?

Iron Man looks better with the red and gold rather than the black and gold and what the hell is The Hulk wearing? Also is that supposed to be Cyclops standing next to Wolverine I assume? I might check these out eventually though just to see what they're like.

Yeah, I thought it was Daredevil at first, but on closer inspection he has a glowing eye and an X on his belt so it has to be Cyclops.

What is that helmet floating next to Jean Grey, or is that part of the Hulk's "uniform"?

I read that since people loved Superman's new armor, Marvel thought it would be a good idea to give one of their strongest characters armor as well.

I didn't think that Superman's armor was well received by fans at all.

Yeah, I don't like it...I like the high collar and the elimination of the red trunks, but the armor seems unnecessary - he's not Batman, he doesn't need it. Oh well, back to Marvel...

I can only report stuff I think I read on the Internet. Regardless, the Hulk is sporting new armor. I think I read Axel Alonso say something like "Everyone loves Iron Man and thanks to the Avengers they love the Hulk. It's a no brainer to give the Hulk special armor."

Or maybe I dreamt it.

I'm a trade-waiter too, but I haven't even tried that with the last few Marvel events. Every now and then I see some random Civil War volumes in the remainder bins, but I resist because I know they're only a small piece of the pie. It's not even worth it for me to figure out if I need to eat the whole pie or select morsels will do.

Why does Thor have two swords? That's like carrying a nuclear weapon with a BB gun strapped to your back.

Re: Marvel Relaunches In October With Marvel NOW

How people said comic Captain America would look stupid live action. Well movie Captain America looks pretty stupid in comics apparently. Except for the weird boots/gloves, Wolverine looks the same to me. What's that floating head between Thor & Jean Grey?
