Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Not interested in Kodansha, and I only picked up a couple stacked titles from Boom. Those go on sale so frequently that I didn’t really need any at 50% off, and some stuff like Firefly didn’t qualify. I did get a bunch of Magnetic Press like the Collected Toppi. I must’ve missed the last time they were on sale.

Today is the seventh day of flash sales so I wonder if that’s the end or if it’s going to stretch on for a while. It feels like something they threw together on the fly, maybe to combat recession fears on their physical side.

Putting the new free books into my cart today, I noticed that somehow the boomflash code was still active in my cart. I tried to use it again, with the new Giant Days sale, but it didn’t work. Bad timing on that Giant Days sale, would have loved it yesterday.

I wonder if that sale was excluded. The Boom code was still active for me this morning so I bought a couple of cheap Peanuts titles. Stashing the code worked for me on another of these as well. Unfortunately with Archie, it randomly signed me out and wiped out my cart in the process. No great loss, though.

The more I think bout it, Giant Days might be on one of Boom’s secondary imprint lines, and maybe all those were excluded.

No flash sale I guess, but a huge Hulk sale, 75% off for 2 days.

I've heard lots of great things about Immortal Hulk. Unfortunately, volume 4 seems to be replaced by... Immortal Iron Fist 1, at least in the sale list.

I’ve read the first few issues and loved it. The singles work out to around the same price per issue vs the trades iirc.

But looking at the link, I see the first 5 trades at $1.91 each (after discount).

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

So I guess the Hulk has been my favorite main Marvel character all my life. Even in my early mostly DC days I sampled Hulk more than other titles, then was fully on board the long and great Peter David run, and continuing to my modern mostly digital days have picked up lots of Hulk, especially in those 99 cent collection days (oh how I miss those).

Anyway, this “road to Hulk issue #750” sale made me take a peek at all the Hulk I owned, and it was most of it. So I picked up the last 175 issues for $64 and I now own every Hulk issue except the current full-priced one.

The 1-10 volume is a few pennies cheaper, but the 11-20 volume is on pre-order and not eligible for the sale, as is the sixth trade. I assume the singles would go further.

Because of the coronavirus crisis comic artist Stjepan Sejic has made all six volumes of his acclaimed "Sunstone" series available for free on dropbox!

Vol. 1-5 have been in a Humble Bundle, Vol. 1-4 in a Groupees bundle, so look what you already have.

Just a note if you have never heard of it before, it is definitely adults-only.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Line wide sale on Avatar. Not really everyone's cup of tea, but I do have a fondness for Uber since I am a fan of alternate history. Does anyone know if Avatar/Boundless is still publishing anything new? The official website is gone which is never a good sign and I don't recall seeing anything in a while. I know Uber Invasion stopped at 17 with 4 issues to go with a cryptic message from the creator that it won't be back for a while because of a variety of reasons.

More companies and creators making their content available for free right now.

Check out perhaps the best new creator in comics lately, Tille Walden.

You can try my code if you want, might work. Personally, I’m doing my usual wait a couple months and these 99 cent ‘sale’ issues will be even cheaper when on sale with CU discount.

Mostly Wichblade bundle. Pretty much every issue to date, about 300 comics total, for $20. Even if you bought the earlier nearly complete bundle awhile back, this adds the missing first 80 issues and over 100 books total.

I'd be interested in reading all the Star Trek comics from over the years, what kind of offerings do they have on something like Comixology? Can you buy piecemeal or is it subscription?

Man you just missed a Humble Bundle a month or so ago with all the Trek comics. Honestly if you're in no hurry I'd wait for that to come around again. I'll leave it to others to say how many star trek comics are on CU.

Yeah, those bundles you missed were a huge value, but a new one will hopefully appear.

There have been so many Trek comics over the decades, from multiple publishers. IDW has the license now, and has produced tons of stuff these past ten years or so. Lots of it is on Comixology Unlimited, who has a two month free trial right now.

Here is a link to the 60 different series with Star Trek in the title:
https://www.comixology.com/search/se...arch=Star+Trek

I still regard the DC run in the 1980s-1990s to be the best, but haven’t read a ton of the new stuff yet.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Yeah, I was reading some in the 80s-90s also and there were some trippy stories. I'm also interested in the big Q crossover they did a few years ago.

I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks. I don't need the code since I will end up getting what I want for 89 cents in the future. I was just annoyed that again I did not receive a coupon that other CU members have gotten.
