Oddly this Hawkeye sale lasts through Sunday, 3/22, according to the sales banner. Hopefully longer duration sales become standard for Marvel.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I know there was probably a good reason for it, but they cancelled a series after 16 issues just to reboot it the next month with another number 1? 16 issues?

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Marvel's done that a lot of that lately. Wasn't All-New Marvel Now just a bunch of relaunches of titles already relaunched 2 years ago? I know new #1's sell better and that they want things to be accessible to new readers, but as someone who is trying to get caught up on the last 8 years, it makes it really difficult to figure what is what. The idea that Uncanny X-Men (one of the only Marvel titles to avoid renumbering during the 90's) has now been relaunched twice (probably 3 times once Secret Wars is done) in 4 years really ruffles my tail feathers.

I seem to remember the Marvel Friday sales always being weekenders, but switching to Friday only recently. Nice if they'd switch back.

I thought that was normal with Marvel the last few years, even only 12 issues often.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Cool. I had gotten so used to these sales being Friday only and I just assumed this one was too without checking. I hope they're going back to weekend sales. Marvel having both their sales each week being 1 day only is weird.

That's pretty much Marvel's SOP now. For example, the run of Hawkeye this sale is on ended at #21 when Matt Fraction left the book, and the following month another issue came out as "All New Hawkeye #1" with a new creative team.

From what I can remember, they've done the same thing with: All New X-Men, Wolverine & The X-Men, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, etc. They all had runs that lasted about a year or two and then they relaunched them with new #1's.

It gets really annoying when you're trying to keep all your comics straight.

Oh, I know we talked about it before, and I understand the whole "#1s sell more" thing, that just seemed like an odd number, and it's very close to having Comixology break down. Eventually we'll have:
Secret X-Men (2014)
Secret X-Men (2014)

when it reboots in the same calendar year.

Well, caught up on Tomb Raider and the Grindhouse comics with that Dark Horse sale.

I'm a little bummed that Prometheus: Fire & Ice - Omega is included in that sale. I just picked it up last week when it dropped from $5 to $3.

I know that I should wait until the yearly sale to buy anything at Dark Horse, because I don't think its mathematically possible for anything to ever be cheaper than then, but it's hard to resist that $.99 price point.

Wheel of Time sale at Comixology, but be careful, if you buy the Humble Bundles you already own all of it for much much cheaper.
issues 1-35 and 1.5

A book from the great Doug TenNapel is on sale for $1.99; Nnewts vol 1.

Wish another Image line sale or Vertigo. Those are the books I read the most.

It looks like they've just lowered the bundle to $23.99 to make it a better deal.

Note: If you bought Thor: The Dark World on Blu-Ray and redeemed the digital comics code in it, you already have issue #1 of the series.

Another huge weekly DC sale, The Road to Convergence. 160+ books at $.99 each, most of the 'big events' since Crisis.
https://www.comixology.com/Road-to-C...Sale/page/5884

From IDW, ending 3/30/15, a big sale of X-Files.

You can buy them anytime and they'll stay in your account. When you finally get a tablet, just install the app, sync it to your account, and you're good to go.

You can also read them from your computer, too, if I'm not mistaken, either through your account on a browser, or with a program like the Kindle PC app.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I don't think I'd be interested in digital comics at all without a tablet. I guess it's a nice option to have them available on a PC as well, but I can't imagine reading anything from a monitor.

I was VERY resistant to even the thought of digital comics/reading for years, but once I actually tried it on an iPad I was instantly hooked. The screen size is pretty much the same as a comic, and the slight negative of double page spreads being a bit clunky to see is more than outweighed by the many positives.

Heck, a heavy comic collector can pay for a nice tablet in just a month or three by switching to digital.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Hmmm, some pricing shenanigans on these two new sales at Comixology.

Last night, all single issues in both sales were $.99 each; but now, a few of the larger singles are $1.99 each. Hope this isn't a new trend; and I'm glad I bought it all last night.

Were the digital deluxes (which are 1.99) available yesterday? There are 99c versions of those issues as well.

How is Future's End? At this point, I should probably wait until it's complete and they have another sale, but it's tempting.

Would it be fair to assume that the Flashpoint tie-ins are not important or necessary?

Flashpoint Deluxe issues and X-files Annual 2014 increased by $1 but the X-files Season 10 trade collections decreased by $1 (which now matches the pricing of the individual issues) so it's not all bad.

I've been on the fence myself but Future's End reviews seem poor/mixed. Comic Book Resources rate issue #35 a 2.5/5 saying it is "one of the better issues of the series to date, but with that in mind, it could have been a lot better." 'Batman News' has a review of issue 40 that says it's better than "other issues [meaning 3-39] not mattering a hill of beans." However, Newsarama says Future's End "remains compelling every week" (in issue 38 review). Future's End #0 is available free if you want to try that.

Yep, they were $.99 each and mixed in with the regular Flashpoints last night.

Then at some point they separated them into their own subcategory. Pretty sure they were initially $.99 there as well, but then went up in price later today.

And the X-Files annual was initially $.99 as well.

No clue, I basically haven't read any of the new 52. But at this point I'm a completest when it comes to DC events, at least at the dollar price point.

Invincible 118 also free at Image and Comixology.

And they've added the X-Files Year Zero trade to the sale.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I feel like I should have known this earlier, but apparently Comixology has a podcast where they sneak in freebie codes. Is it wrong to share these codes with non-listeners? I feel slightly guilty. Maybe typing MEMEPOD in the Comixology redeem code section will make me feel better.
