No new sales today, and the 12 Days freebie is Judge Dredd#1 from IDW. There were a couple of freebies yesterday as normal.

Two new sales today: a three day from Dynamite on 2 minis (14 issues) of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, and a one day from Marvel on 36 old X-Men issues, the Fatal Attraction and X-Cutioners stories.

Revival issue 1 from Image is the freebie from the 12 days of Christmas promo today. It's not showing up in the app promo page just yet, but is free on the website and if you search for it in the app.

Today starts a three day Wonderland sale from Zenescope.

Damn bronies! But I'll still download it for my daughter.

Today's freebie I had never heard of, The Bunker. The writer, Joshua Hal Fialkov, is pretty good.

It is in this month's previews catalog for Oni Press. Page 332. I had it marked to order. I'll read this before I put my order in to make the decision :). Thanks for either saving me money or making my order better informed.

Today's Marvel Monday is X-Men 157-207 from the 2010-2011 timeframe.

12 Day freebie not up yet.

The 12 Day freebie today is Marvel's Hawkeye #1 (2012) by Matt Fraction, which most of us already got for free I imagine.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

It would be nice is Marvel's other picks weren't ones they already gave away in the huge SXSW giveaway. But Hawkeye is a good book, so if it inspires more people to pick it up, that's cool.

Today DC gives us a one day sale on several Brian Azzarello titles.

Three day sale on Pathfinder 1-10, note an exclusive story in the first trade.

Today's free book is the first issue of Quantum & Woody from the new, non-Priest series.

This is a good way to check out Pathfinder even if you prefer physical copies. Volume 1 hardcover is in this month's previews(pg 301), but is actually not a pre-order. It is pretty expensive at $30($15 at IST), so I'm going to either sample an issue or get the collection and wait for a more palatable price for a physical copy should I enjoy it.

Image announced today that it would be reprinting and continuing David Lapham's Stray Bullets series. The first four issues of the book are free on Comixology right now.

Hopefully I'm not stepping on Trevor's toes, but today's free Comixology 12 Days book is The Motorcycle Samurai Zero issue.

I'm unfamiliar with it, but it's from Top Shelf, which is often a good sign and the Top Shelf site says its 120 pages.

Ouch!

No, the more the merrier! No new sales today, and the only normal Wednesday freebie appears to be the weekly DC thing.

Viz manga is basically a buck off each issue through the digital store. Not as good as the previous sales, though.

I think I own 23 of those in print, but they are some great stories/deals.

Today's free book is Sandman #1, not Sandman Overture like I was hoping for.

I'm pretty tempted to triple-dip on some of my favorite stories so I can have them digitally for when I actually like digital. I have to just tell myself no.

I wish the combo physical/digital ownership thing was more universal. I love buying CDs at Amazon because they come with the MP3 version for free, or BDs in the store because they include digital copies. I know that Marvel and DC have this in limited or premium form, but I'd love to have everything I ever bought in my 'cloud' without having to work or circumvent laws to put it there.

Honestly, this is the reason why the only Kindle books I've bought are the one or two comics I got really cheap. Everything else on there was free on Amazon or is a Prime rental. I have a Kindle and I like it fine, but I want the real book. I would probably pay a dollar more if I got the digital version with physical copy(I definitely would if it were drm free and portable to other formats). And I would love if they did this with comics. Humanoids actually gives you free digital copies for any book that you buy in their store, but it is not an environment I find pleasing to read comics in.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Pretty much every Marvel single issue comes with a free digital code at this point (anything $3.99 or over, are there any $2.99 books left beside Hawkeye?). They've done digital codes with some of their hardcovers.

I wonder if they worry that people would just steal the codes out of TPBs at B&N if they included them there.

And I think that is a good way to start even if I think it was mainly an excuse to bump the price up by a dollar. When I said I would pay a dollar more, I was mainly talking about novels and trades. I'd definitely love it if they started adding digital codes to omnibuses.
