I don't know if I would agree with you, but I certainly wouldn't try to convince you otherwise. It's been really excelent.

Sorry, Aqua-fans! I'm not judging this particular series but am amused since he's such a Super Friends-y character. Heck, I myself bought his recent trade for the Aparo art.

Hey, so are the GL titles any good? Nobody talks about it on here, and I still have no idea how it connects to the old universe GL series, but as one of only two characters that were allowed to transition over pretty intact, I was wondering how the titles were.

I've enjoyed the Sinestro storyline in Green Lantern. I'm a big Kyle Rayner fan, and I think the concept behind GL: New Gaurdians is pretty cool. I guess Green Lantern Corps. has been pretty forgettable, since I can't tell you what's happened there.

The Source is reporting that Action Comics #9 will introduce a multiverse Superman (or something like that). That might be my queue to drop AC at that point, too. I hope too many of these titles don't start spanning multiple Earths; that seems to do nothing but invite confusion and frustration.

I hope that's not the Superdoom they refer to there; that would not be good for DC and their image relating to portrayal of superheroes.

I'm so far gone on the Superman book, and I haven't even bothered with the latest Action Comics, even though I've had it for a few days. I don't know what it takes to make his story interesting, but I can't figure it out. Maybe America just isn't in a place for a hero like Superman right now.

I know, I know, these are just comic books, and the Kryptonians are white in the regular DC Universe, but were Jor-El and Lara of that alternate universe peeking at Earth to emulate their hairstyles or something?

My personal opinion is that they had a subscription to People magazine.

This version of Superman is definitely black in that panel, with black parents. It makes some marketing sense, as Superman is one of the most popular white comic book characters among African-Americans.

It won't be long before he becomes a permanent fixture in the main DC universe as a side character.

If I were George Perez, I'd have been too embarrassed to put my signature anywhere close to that amateurish drawing of Power Girl. I'm a huge fan of his too...

Every message board post I've read has revolved around the lack of the boob window and the costume design in general, but I seem to be the only one cringing that it's just poorly rendered, period.

Going back to multiple worlds? Glad I got out of DC years ago. And I was only into Batman comics during the time they only had 1 Earth. Go read some of the wikipeida entrys into some of the DC characters. Confusing as hell when it comes to mutiple Earths, multiplied by a Billion when characters start crossing between them. WTF.

What really didn't make sense is when a character moved to another Earth & the orginal one ceased to exist. Woundn't that person just go insane with grief. There ENTIRE world is destroyed. Doesn't matter if the duplicates are well and fine on new Earth, the 6 billion people on your planet are dead.

I think we can look to survivors of catastrophes here on our own planet for an idea about that. Some would be incapable of going on and succumb to grief. Others would adapt and try to rebuild their lives somewhere else. "Life goes on," as trite as it might sound. Throw in the fact you're dealing with characters who are accustomed to the fantastic and extraordinary and I think it's perfectly reasonable that they would be capable of adopting a different Earth as their new home.

You just described Superman's origin...

Superman's planet, Krypton, exploded. Superman was the last Kryptonian (until Supergirl, Krypto, Zod, etc were introduced). So heck Superman has more reason to be dark and brooding than Batman does yet he's not.

Also, Superboy Prime is a good example of Superman going insane after the loss of his planet. Earth Prime being erased by Crisis on Infinite Earths is what drove him insane. So it has happened...

I don't think this happened quite as often as you think. There are several "survivors" of deceased universes in the "old" DC universe, but most of them had no memory of the universe that had gone away. Heck, I think they mentioned that Kyle Rayner wasn't supposed to be on our Earth, and he for sure had no idea about that.

Superman was pretty much born and raised here, though... sure he found out about his adopted planet and got access to memories and whatnot, but it's not like he was raised there and came here as a teenager... like Supergirl. :)

Wait, the "Black" Superman is also the President? I guess it's ok that he's an alien (or that's a secret)? I guess that's a far cry from the JMS Superman renouncing his citizenship...

The DC citizens will probably want him to show his birth certificate. They might even believe he is secretly a Muslim.

That looks like a really uncomfortable suit to be wearing underneath a suit; I'm eager to drop Action Comics and move my $3.99 to something else...

Wait...I think that's actually the point of this caricature. Or something. I dunno. This just looks like something that thought it would be clever but will likely be very clumsy. In any event, I bailed after issue #1 so someone else'll have to let me know how it turns out.

I read Detective Comics #6 late last night. So far, this second arc isn't half as compelling as the opening "Dollmaker" story, but I confess I enjoyed thumbing through it and found a few surprises along the way that reminded me how much fun a good monthly can be. I think some of you trade-waiters miss out on part of the charm of comics by not waiting four weeks between each part.

I've got Batgirl and Batwoman #6s waiting to be read. I think I might take them to the Laundro-mat with me later today.
