I've followed Comic Con most of the weekend through IGNs live streams and Twitter. It felt low key news wise. Mostly video game, toys/collectibles and some TV news (mostly AMC)
Seems like most who went there it was for the live activities and for shopping. You could literally spend thousands of dollars if you stayed the entire 4 days.

Re: Comic Conventions
So Chuck Norris is appearing at a local Con here in a few weeks on August 26-27
It's Collect A Con, which they apparently hold it in several states. Tickets are only $35 and he's appearing both days. He's like my all-time favorite 80s action hero and it's rare that he's appearing outside of Texas, since he lives there.
My dilemma is that right now no prices are listed for autos and photo ops. And I don't want to buy a ticket and get blindsided with a charge that I can't afford. These guest tables normally only take cash as they are independent contractors. I would really love to get him to sign my Delta Force BD and maybe get a photo Op. Right now he's the most high profile guest booked. I'm not sure what to do. This might be one of the only opportunities I get a chance to meet him if it's even possible.

Who knows how many chances you’ll have to meet him. He’s 83 years old so you never know.

Re: Comic Conventions
Heads up for anyone planning to get autographs. There's been reports from a couple cons last weekend of actors not doing character names and movie quotes. I guess they've been getting mixed signals about what they can do during the strike.
I've also heard that some cons won't have movie/show photos at the celeb tables. They'll have a separate table where you can get photos to bring over to the celebs.

I think I might just suck it up and bring maybe $200 and see if that’s enough for a photo and auto. Yeah this might be a rare opportunity.

It also says "No autographs on Chuck Norris Facts books".

Thanks Dave. That gives me a great idea on what to expect and I assume for this con the charge will be the same or similar.

Booked my ticket to the Collect A Con. So hopefully I'll be able to meet Norris and get a photo. If I do, I'll post it in this thread.
The Delta Force is my favorite Norris movie, so I'm heavily leaning to have him sign my special edition BD. But, I also have the Missing in Action box set and I know that's his most popular movie. Hmmm decisions.
If I don't do this now, I'll probably regret it. Even though he's probably in excellent shape, he is 83. That's one of the reasons why I splurged on the Bill Shatner photo and autograph last December since he's 92.
I know some of you don't like having items personalized, but I always do. I never have any plans or intention to sell these items off.

Those might be considered "premium" items and there could be an upcharge. I wish there was just a flat rate for a signature. But sometimes celebs make up prices at the table.

Re: Comic Conventions
I don't like personalized signatures on things.
It doesn't have anything to do with resale value, but just that, as display pieces, I find just a lone signature is more aesthetically appealing than a personalization.
The two exceptions I would make would be for books, where the author of the books signs the book on an inside page, or if they signee does some kind of little sketch or something along with their signature. I have a Grendel comic signed by Matt Wagner with a little sketch of the Grendel character, and a Death comic signed by Neil Gaiman and Chris Bachalo with a spiral scribble as part of Bachalo's signature.

Well, Randy Quaid isn’t working much these days, I can see why he would do those stupid up charges.

Re: Comic Conventions
How is Randy Quaid doing autograph signings while wearing a strait jacket?
He probably gets tired of signing "Shitter's full!"
Wonder if he would sign "Woof! Woof! Woof!"

Re: Comic Conventions
For the con I went to with my fiancée we did a photo op with both Ian McDiarmid and Nika Futterman and we actually had each autograph the photo we were in with them.
Added a bit more personalization versus an image that you can get basically anywhere. I didn’t really have an item I wanted signed in spite of having lots of Star Wars items to choose from.

Fuck, I just read on the Collect A Con Instagram that Chuck Norris actually canceled his appearance.
That was really the main reason I wanted to go. I might consider eating my $35 ticket now.

Well, it wasn't a total loss. I managed to sell my ticket to someone on Instagram who was looking for a last second ticket for this Con today. He took it for $15. At least I got something back for it.
But from all the comments I saw on this show's page, aside from Norris, this Con would probably have been boring for me. I read it was mostly focused on cards. And lots said the parking was pretty bad.
