No, what you describe is definitely the definition of a legacy character. The question is, has there been more than one person who has used the Superman name and who has had his own title? Do the Earth-1, Earth-2, and Post-Crisis Clark Kent count as three people or one?

I'd say yes- see Bus' post for why.

(oh, and all the different Earths would count as 1 I'd say, too)

There have been a number of different versions fo Hawkman over the years, to the point where DC, at one point, threw up its hands and stopped publishing the character because they couldn't figure out which was which. 2 points.

Which leaves our final two examples, and the two I had in mind when I came up with this question:

Which makes the wrong answers worth 4 points. Since nobody has spoken up in defense of any of them besides Superman, all of the others are wrong. Superman still feels a little fishy to me, but I will allow it on the strength of the Reign of the Superman storyline.

I didn't know if a lot of people were going to go with AD 2000.

OK. The Excel problem is fixed now. Because davidh was a last-minute entrant, I forgot to tweak one of the formulas for his line of the spreadsheet. Problem solved now.

Nobody went with 2000 AD (or the Beano, for that matter). But let's talk about your answer. It perplexed me, particularly since you used Google. The Bus's answer was, and I quote:

Vaillant*

Yeah. We're going to go ahead and count that as wrong, mkay?

You know it's not Prince Valiant, right?
