Question 7

Superboy (9): Meatwad's Ghost, Trevor, Rockmjd23, dvdhook, CaptainMarvel, brianluvdvd, fumanstan, Hokeyboy, burnside986
Lightning Lad (4): MHepburn20, fujishig, Palaver, RKilgore
Superman (4): Nick Danger, The Bus, maxfisher, Bandit03
Brainiac 5 (2): reverie, MBoyd
Matter-Eater Lad (2): dadluholla, Lokimok
Saturn Girl (2): ivelostr2, davidh777
Wildfire (0): JasonF
Cosmic Boy (0): Prepper
Wonder Woman (0): Mordred

Mordred, Wonder Woman was not actually in the Legion of Superheroes. Then again, Wildfire and Cosmic Boy were and you didn't do any worse than me and Prepper.

By the way, we have our first Googlers: Nick Danger and fumanstan each get a one-point deduction from their scores this round.

I know I certainly wasn't thinking (the probably obvious) Superboy!

Out of curiosity, how do you spot a Googler?

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Not that I want others to get even more points, but should Superman and Superboy be considered the same answer in this question? I mean, it's the same person (let's not get into the whole Crisis/Superboy thing).

And wow, Matter Eater Lad with 2! We do have nerds here! If we weren't considering what other people would pick, I would've picked Wildfire myself.

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Was Superman as a grown-up ever in Legion? I've never really followed it that much at all (just the random cross-over).

When you clicked on this thread to get the questions, a client was downloaded to your computer. We use that client to track your searches and determine whether you are using Google or wikipedia. The application also converts your computer into a webcam so that we can monitor whether you checked your longboxes or trade paperbacks.

(Actually, people were told in the instructions to let me know when they use Google. It's an honor system.)

Both Superman and Superboy were in the Legion at separate times and in separate continuities, which is why I counted them separately.

Superboy was in the Legion from the time it debuted in 1959 until the original Crisis.

Then, for a long time, no Superboy.

Then, about 2-3 years ago, they brought the new Superboy (the one who is a separate character from Clark Kent) into the Legion. But then (spoiler alert!) he died in Infinite Crisis.

Just recently, Geoff Johns brought Superman into the Legion for the Legion storyline he did in Superman and for the Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds mini.

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

I would like to actively argue against counting them together and not just because I didn't pick it, but clearly the superboy who WAS a member of the legion is vastly different than the superman they foolishly made an honorary member during what was a terrible recent arc in JLA. Thanks to the various crisis and zero hours they are literally different characters.

So in this game there is no penalty for wrong answers, right?

Correct, other than the fact that probably nobody will match you.

If/when we do a round 2, I will throw in some reverse sheep questions where the goal is to pick the least popular but still correct answer. Then we will have to argue over whether particular answers are right or not.

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

OK ... I said I was going to wait until The Bus finished Movie Sheep and then I wound up giving out half the results today. So I will leave everyone overnight with one more question and then we can come back tomorrow to find out the answers.

And the question is ....

Question 9: Name one of Batman's enemies

So many to choose from. Batman has one of the best rogue's galleries in comics. Which one did people pick?

I would argue that the people who put "Superman" probably meant it as "Superboy," (just like I would guess that if they put Superboy, they meant the classic character not Kon-el) but with this crowd, who knows? It seemed to me that John's story (Superman and the Legion) was retconning (or re-conning?) Supes into the Legion as a boy, but I can no longer follow DC's continuity...

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

I would be extremely surprised, given the nature of this contest, if the winning answer was not a semi-landslide... that answer being, of course, Killer Moth.

I guessed. I clearly should've answered Superman.
