For those coming from out of town, the weather is looking good. The coast will be in the high 70's during the day, high 60's at night on Weds/Thurs with some humidity. But Fri/Sat/Sun should be cooler with less humidity.
Looking good and beats the heat from a couple years ago.

Looks like studios are mentioning their new comic book related films right before the start of Comic Con... coincidence? I think not.
WB - Jonah Hex
NewLine - Y: The Last Man
Sony - Green Hornet (which has been a comic book, not just a tv show)

I remember trying to get one of the lucky tickets for Lost cast autographs. There was a circle of people around the Inkworks booth doing laps. I must've got 6 tickets... none good.

On a related note, at the last minute, I was finally given the greenlight to go, so I'm flying out tonight. Yay. Everyone, if you see a tall guy named Brian with something that says MTV, say hello!

Ok I am here. Just got in and I am a bundle of nerves. Did I ever tell anyone I hate flying?
I plan on making it to Hooters. I am wearing a blue polo style shirt and jeans. I am 6 ft 3 - 250lbs. God this sounds like an internet date . . .

OK, now I'm jealous....

I'm out the door to the airport.
Hitting Burbank, missing preview night (saving 200 buck on hotel fare) then coming in with friends tomorrow morning.
I hear you about flying MBoyd. It's an irrational fear or I wouldn't do it. My advice...don't fly too sober. Last time I flew sober I was getting dry heaves all day even after I was back on the ground safely. Phobias are crazy, yet they're still there. Hope to run into some of youse there.
PEACE OUT!!!

OMG OMG OMG... the crowds were INSANE. I've never seen Preview Night this packed. I don't even want to think about what Friday and Saturday will be like.
We met up with MBoyd and devilshalo. All were smiles since we didn't know just how big the crowd was gonna be.

Just got back (well... after hitting a bar or two afterwards). Holy fuck! I've never been to a preview night before, but this was almost as crowded as a Friday! Wow!
What was really funny was how nice all the exhibitors and crowd was. It's like everyone was all happy and "fresh" and "up for it", and of course by Saturday, everyone's going to be all grumpy and not so talkative because they'll be burnt out and sick of bumping into people.

I just lost a huge long post I was making on my friend's POS computer.
Anyway I am not retyping it right now.
If anyone wants to meet up tomorrow I will probably be hanging in Hall H mostly. Didn't make it in there today unfortunately.

I just got back and was surprised how interesting it was. I haven't picked up a comic in years and only went because I lived nearby. Of the four panels I attended two were particularly cool, one focusing on the new Stan Lee biography and the other on new Marvel Titles.
The Stan Lee panel was obviously interesting because Stan Lee was there. Man the second that guy came in it was like a rock star entered the room, everybody just stood up and started to clap. At 85 Stan is still the PT Barnum of comic books; he has a ton of energy, enthusiasim, and (while signing the praises of the creative work of the other members of the panel) a blatant self promoter
It was cool hearing the guy whose highly inflected voice I still remember so well from "Spider Man and His Amazing Friends" talk about his new work as well as tell lots of anecdotes from his days at Marvel.
The other cool panel was titled "Mondo Marvel". This had various creative people currently associated with Marvel titles. I liked finally seeing J. Michael Strazynski, who is best known for his work with Babylon 5, in person. He didn't get to talk as much as the other guys, but the new comic he was working on was really cool. John Favreau, who is best known for his work as an actor, but is currently the directing the new "Iron Man" movie was a surprise guest on the panel; one of the things that he brought up was that Tony Stark, who at 40, and fabulously wealthy, is not the underdog kind of story that Hollywood typically looks for in its superheroes (a la Spiderman) and probably would have been hard to bring to the screen without Marvel's involvement. He didn't go into great detail about the plot other than to say that Tony's alcoholism would not be a part of this movie and he would not be fighting Tu Wang Fu (I probably got this name screwed up, like I said its been a long time since I read a comic). The Final thing that me this panel great was the fan involvement. People kept on taking shots at Marvel for carrying off characters: most recently Captain America, Collosus, and Jean Grey. Audience
members kept on suggesting this was purely for short financial gain, while the Marvels guys kept on squeaming in their seats and getting defensive.
Man, there were a ton of people at this thing, and all the tradeshow stuff on the bottom floor was cool as well. If I wasn't working for the next three days I would happily go again!

Hey Everybody,
This is my first time visiting the "Other Talk" forums but figured this is where a Comic Con topic would be (and I was right!).
It's been a long couple days and it's only just started - I made the mistake of coming too early to the badge pickup (arriving around 11:30, getting my badge around 2:30 and waiting another 3 1/2 hours until the doors opened). I never remembered preview night being so crazy - I don't even want to imagine what Saturday will look like.
Had a good time - figured I'd bring about $600 with me to last for a few days (preview night/Thursday and maybe Friday).. I'm not a big comic book guy so I figured it would be mostly looking around.
I was broke by about 8:30 that night (the doors opened at 6:00).
Found some neat stuff, met some people I've been a fan of for a while and got hooked on some new ones.
I made the mistake today of buying heavy merchandise - I picked up the 2 hardcover Sin City sets at a nice price (both containing 4 very large books and weighing a ton). I ended up walking around with them for about 4 hours before calling it quits and going home (only to see a "Bag Check" area as I was leaving). Talked to Ken Foree and Rosario Dawson for a little while (separately), met Tony Todd, Tura Santana and Sydney Tamiia Poitier. Was going to hang around for Jane Wiedlin but she got held up in traffic and I was worn out. Danny Trejo's on the list for tomorrow though!
Biggest disappointment was missing out on Jessica Alba tickets! I talked to one of the guys at the Lionsgate booth about it last night and was told to stop by as soon as the doors open to get a ticket. Did that only to be turned away ("The tickets arent here yet, check back throughout the day"). I checked back and security quickly broke up the crowd and stopped the ticket giveaways - came back about 20 minutes later to hear they werent giving any more tickets away.
All in all a good time so far - 1 day down and 3 to go..

They had a simulcast from the set of Indiana Jones. Spielberg said they've filmed 28 days and everything is going great. He said while his last few movies are more personal, he's doing this one for the fans of the series. He introduced Harrison (who was dressed as Indy), Shia Labouf (sp) and some guy who's playing Indy's new sidekick. Then Steven brought out.... None other than Karen Allen who's back as Marion Ravenwood (she's looking VERY good).
During the Star Trek movie panel J J Abrams (who's directing) brought out the person playing Spock... it's Zachary Quinto (who plays Sylar on "Heroes"). He does look like Spock! But the bigger surprise was they brought out the person playing older Spock. Putting on the ears one more time... Leonard Nimoy. The place went crazy. Leonard said he was really happy with the choice of Zachary and he said the script is amazing.
