Comics Thread for October....

I just read the New Avengers hc, Collective (I think) and in several shots they show Tony Stark standing before a bank of monitors and communicating with SHIELD or the Avengers via radio while at the same time he's clearly in the Iron Man armor. And the armor isn't being remote controlled, the enemy dismantled the armor and Tony clearly fell out in one sequence. What's up with that???

Did anyone pick up the first issue of The Irredeemable Ant-Man? Don't really have any interest in the character, but I usually love Kirkman's work. Is it worth picking up?

What's up with Wonder Woman? Why is it so late? I finally got around to reading the first 2 issues, loved them by the way, and according to dccomics.com #3 isn't due til November.

Maybe he's emulating Adam Hughes in more than just style...

So did anyone else pick up Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall? I just finished reading it for the second time earlier today. For any fans of the series(and anyone thinking of picking it up) would do well to read this collection of short stories.
Basically it takes place long ago when the Fables are fleeing their respective communitites from The Adversary and gives some great background info on characters like Snow White, Bigby Wolf, King Cole, and many, many of the other supporting characters from the series. The artwork is absolutely top-notch and fits perfectly with each story as there is a different artist for each story. I can't recommend this more highly.

I've been thinking that Manhunter should join the Birds of Prey and it looks like she's at least going to make an appearance.
I think I just came a little....

Forgive me if this is already in this thread, but you all know about the google checkout deal right?
Buy.com seems to have the best prices on a lot of comic trades, and take $10 off each one if you use google checkout.

Lukewarmwater, I was referring to when Warren Ellis relaunched X-force, X-man, and Generation X in 1999. It was a disaster, and if you haven't heard about it I don't blame you.

It's pretty telling that anytime Tony Stark is wavering in what he's doing, she shows up and he snaps back. I vote Mephisto though. It would explain why some of the characters are acting so out of sorts besides bad writing. Plus it would fit exactly into Mephisto's agenda: taking down the heroes of the Marvel universe by setting just a few pieces in motion and letting them go. It would be a nice slice of irony that the series has been so tech driven, because the techies of Marvel would be weakest to Mephisto's charms. By that same token, there's also no magic characters that would recognize Mephisto's work so far in the books. It would a nice swerve to bring it all back into the comics realm a bit by doing this. Plus, of course he (and the writers) would name the child Damian as an in-joke!

Hopefully after his 5 issue arc it will go back to being a monthly title.

If anyone wants to catch up on Y: The Last Man, I have a huge lot for sale on eBay right now. It's only going for 99 cents with only about 8 hours left. It should sell low.
As for WW, I sure hope it gets back on track. I think late books (even if they turn into a bi-monthly schedule) hurts the sales and the story. Look at Supergirl. I had high hopes for that, but after delay after delay, I thought it fell apart.

I've always preferred Warren Ellis and Grant Morrisions non-superhero work. Although I picked up like 4 or 5 issues of seven soldiers and liked it. I stoped because I realized I dont have the time/money to pick up each of the titles every month, how was the series for everyone who picked it up?
And I also think that DC putting the first few issues of each title into one trade is a horrible idea. When I was reading the guardian and klarion they seemed to fit in their own universe and I'd much rather read them individually.

But Seven Soldiers was a bunch of limited series that tie into each other, with bookends for the beginning and end, right? It makes sense to release it in trades like that, so that the end of one book doesn't spoil the beginning of another. I've been enjoying the trades, myself.
Anyone know what's the story on the fourth trade for SS, though? I heard it got delayed, but is it on track now?

Not to try to steer the conversation from super hero books, but I just read 12 REASONS WHY I LOVE HER. Fantastic! Might be one of the best "indie" comics I've read this year. Joelle Jones' art really fits together with Jamie Rich's story to make a nearly perfect romantic comedy. I highly recommend you check it out.
