"Ion"? Why? You can NEVER have enough kick ass Lanterns and with The Corps "recharged'.....

New Blue Beetle so far.

I'm wondering, is the "multiverse" really coming back? I mean the more I read the more I feel like this Luther things is just the overblown reason DC came up with to kill some characters, change others, bring back old ones from the multiverse, and create some new heroes and villians. I just don't see how having a "MV" will work.

Am I reading this wrong?

I don't think the Multiverse will come back, at least not permanently. Nothing in the OYL books (that I've read so far) suggest that it's back, and as much as I loved the Multiverse back in the day, it would be a pretty bad idea to revert to the way things were 20 years ago.

I'm just happy that they're acknowledging that the Multiverse existed at one point, and that Power Girl is Kara Zor-L again. Though personally, I would love it if they had a title devoted to telling old Pre-Crisis stories, with the Earth-2 JSA & stuff (in the vein of JSA #82. Man...I should've brought up that idea to Levitz at NY Comiccon).

I mean the more I read the more I feel like this Luther things is just the overblown reason DC came up with to kill some characters, change others, bring back old ones from the multiverse, and create some new heroes and villians.
Yep, that's pretty much the reason. I think they wanted to do a reboot (via OYL) without having to deal with the continuity nightmares that we got after the original Crisis.

Yeah, it's funny but I can't remember pre-crisis DC much like some of the characters.

When I heard that this was the "big event" I just couldn't figure how it would work. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're shaking things up. But I agree that the MV coming back on a regular basis would've been bad had they planned it that way. .

Anyone know why JSA:Classified and the Regular JSA series are both getting OYL treatment?

Because as Powergirl's story told us, Classified can be told currently. Besides that, the regular JSA title wasn't really that much of a change with OYL.

Oh man, Big as spoiler was found out today at Wizard World L.A. which I'm wondering why Giantrobo isn't going to at the convention center!

It was in the preview comics they display. Batman drops a huge spoiler as to one of the deaths from either crisis or 52.. but it's a fairly big name that I couldn't believe they let sit out there.

I guess. I always figured "Classified"(both JSA and JLA) mostly dealt with little known events/storylines that happened in the past.

Well... the DC booth usually always puts out black and white uncolored and even very much unfinished copies of books that are coming out within the next month or two. So at any convention you can see down the pipe line a little bit and they do try to keep the secrets safe but one slipped past them.

In next months Detective Comics Batman is talking to Alfred about Tim and saying how he wonders if he's done everything for him and so forth. something along the lines of
Spoiler:
"Poor Kid, Losing a father and his best friend, Connor, dead."
So that's a pretty big bomb to drop.

But it's just up the highway from you at the convention center and it would have been oh so neat to finally meet the famous Giantrobo.

Whose decision was it to start OYL before Infinite Crisis was over? I can understand the overlap of 52, but would it have been that hard to schedule things so that we have a sense of just why these major characters have disappeared for a year? Or have I not been paying close enough attention to the events in Infinite Crisis?

This is why it worked for me. I'm intrigued. It's keeping me guessing. Had IC come out first, we'd already know what happens (or some of what happened). The way it is now, we're in the dark, wondering. Read the issue again after you already know why he has no powers, and there's no suspense. No drama. No mystery.

Anyone else reading Manhunter? Great book so far, the only mainstream DC book I'm reading since Gotham Central ended - the tie-ins with Omac Project and Identity Crisis were handled in a way that enabled me to bypass the larger arcs, which I appreciated. Not sure what's instore for OYL, though.

Hey, I finally found the comic thread here Which site would you guys recommend between DCBS and Mail Order Comics? Also how often do you get them shipped? I do like my weeklies, lol

Ive got subscriptions at my local comic shop, at 15% off, but sometimes they overcharge on some stuff.

All Star Superman = Not the crap that all star batman and robin was. This is in fact pretty good so far.

Batman year 100 = Just started it but it is good so far. I don't care for the look of this batman but the general look of the comic is pretty good.

I never seriously read Birds of Prey before, but I got the OYL story, and boy, is it fun. Definitely my favorite of the OYL issues I've read so far, and it was great to see
Spoiler:
Lady Shiva as part of the team
. Looks like there's a bit of a crossover from the Villains United miniseries (which I also just read recently), if anyone was a fan of that.

I liked that OYL started before crisis ended. The small hints dropped make it much more interesting and keep my attention than a simple straight storyline.

I think reading back through the monthly threads, it'll be pretty easy to figure out which service would get the most votes.

That seems to be because people generally stick with whichever they try first. They seem to have similar discounts (though the heavily discounted titles may be different in a given month), similar shipping costs, similar customer service (excellent), etc. Most on this board seem to be into DCBS, but I've been with mailordercomics for many years now. Just be aware that you're really preordering comics coming out two months from now (though generally you won't be billed until that month comes). And you can get weekly shipments, but it'll be a bit more costly.

I just read the Ultimate Power interview over at newsarama and it sounds like it's going to be pretty good. It's a 9 issue crossover between the Ultimate universe and the Supreme Power universe. The most interesting part is that at least one character won't end up in the universe they started in.

Bendis followed that up with this: "Honestly, we said if we're going to do this lets go all the way with it. Let’s write each sequence to that writer's strengths and let’s put on one hell of a crossover. Let’s make something for people, like myself, who can't stand a crossover that has no lasting effect on the characters. Let’s make this one of the, if not the most important chapter in these characters’ story.

And I truly think we've accomplished that...by leaving Millar out of it [laughs]."

While I'm glad they put a lot of thought into this crossover, and I can't really judge a product that's not out yet, I'm wary. The reason crossovers have no lasting impact is because people usually don't want their individual universes screwed up because of a crossover... they're more like fanboy dream matchups anyway. The Supreme Power universe, by my recollection, is a universe that is just discovering super powered beings... unless Hyperion crosses over, how much of a lasting impact would any of those guys have on the Ultimate universe? Do I really want to see an Ultimate Marvel character in the Supreme Power universe? Did I really need to see Juggernaut in the Ultraverse?

Yeah, I should be more wary of it, but that interview relieved me. I love Supreme Power and don't want to see it fucked up, but the fact that JMS is heavily involved makes me think that it'll all work out. I'm not super excited that they're doing this, but I look forward to reading it.

I agree with the above. I've also been with mailordercomics.com for several years and can say that the customer service is second to none. While not the dedicing factor, I've also done the comparison a few times and moc usually comes out VERY slightly cheaper.
