I know Giantrobo hates it, but I fell it's my duty to point out the Teen Titan TPB's are only $6 bones and change over at instocktrades.com. Crazy good price for some fun reading.

As an aside, I got Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths for $15!
Booksamillion had a misprice in their system for about two hours where they were selling the Absolute edition for the trade paperback price. I'm working there now(worst place to work in the world, they treat employees worse than any company I've ever worked for) and saw it in the system. I quickly placed an order for three without my discount and had them shipped to my house to lock in the price. Within a couple of hours it was back to be 80 something dollars. I got the box last week right before Christmas. BTW, the others are for friends, I'm not that greedy.

Picked up this week's batch of books...
After reading All-Star Batman & Robin, I just have one question - what the hell happened to Frank Miller? Is he really writing this crap, or did DC somehow find a way to slap his name on the ravings of an autistic 8-year-old?

ASB&R #3 was a decent read, but certainly not worth $3. Maybe half that. And that's just because of some of the pretty pictures (of which there were way too many splash pages).

For example, that pointless Black Canary tripe. I bought "All Star Batman & Robin," not "All Star Black Canary." Instead of taking up 2/3 the book, that part should have taken 3, maybe 4 pages top.
Black Canary: 15 pages.
Batman & Robin: 4 pages, all splash pages.
Superman: 3 pages.

Oh man, you have to be kidding me. ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN is awsomely great. Just for the simple fact that it's soooooo out there.
I mean, really, you folks didn't see this coming with lines like "I have a date with bruce wayne" or "you retarded or something? I'm the goddamn batman!" It's a great read for the laughs alone.

I tolerated that, even though I felt it wasn't up to par with Frank's other work.
But the whole (as I call it) "All Star Black Canary" thing pisses me off. I basically paid $3 and got 4 pages of what I thought I was paying for an entire book of.
Between this and All-Star Superman (featuring what can only be described as StonerMan on the cover), I'm reminded of the last time they tried to do a massive "re-imagining" of the DC Universe... when they let Stan Lee do it. What a trainwreck that was.

Anyone read Superman/Batman 23? Anyone else have their brain explode? Maybe it's that Bizarro/Batzarro double speak, or so much happening, but I came away from that issue totally lost. Again.
If I wasn't such a sucker for Ed's artwork I would probably stop. I'm really curious to see what the next creative team does with the book.

But, I've been pretty lost with this entire storyline.

Oh happy days are here kids! New comics are up on DCBS and it looks like they went to 40% off rather than the usual 35%. Have fun trying all those new OYLs from DC!
Hope they keep that up. It will make 52 a little easier on the wallet.

I wonder how they will trade 52? Obviously it won't be 52 issues though it's possible like the Ultimate Spidey Omnibus. I guess I'm more curious about the schedule. DC is very lax in their trade turn around time compared to marvel, but 52 seems like something they should rush. Make it as easy as possible for someone to jump on after the fact if they want to.

I think there are several storylines in 52, ones involving a few different characters. I'm assuming that each story will get its own trade. So maybe 5-8 issues at a time? So maybe each character's story will get 3 or 4 trades?

Not to make this a DCBS thread, but I love the new discount, just not at the risk of losing the bigger specials. I noticed the trades aren't discounted like they usually are, and there's only one book at 75 cents that I'm interested in.

I'd say the best way to trade 52 is to do 4 tpb's. Get the first 13 issues done, pack 'em together, get 'em out while the next 13 are coming out. That way they're spaced out enough so that the trades-only folk don't go bankrupt trying to get them all in one week (unless they want to wait for all 4), and maybe someone tries one trade, likes it, and starts picking up the series at the comic shop.

I'm afraid to email DCBS and ask if the 40% off is here to stay! What if it was a mistake and the take it away!
Read my friends copy of ASBR #3 and I have to say it was the best part of an otherwise crappy day dealing with my various car issues. I'm with Jackskeleton I'm in it for the laughs alone. It's ridiculous. The Superman stuff at the end!
Is this comic just Miller's big FU to DC saying i can do whatever I want and you will pay me? Is he sick of Batman? Then why is he so interested in writing and drawing that Batman vs terrorists 200 page graphic novel he's been working on for a few years and happily brings up every moment he can?

Let's have an all-new one of these starting tomorrow. Hopefully people won't be too desperate to post today and can hang on for a few hours until 2006....
