I liked it quite a bit. It rambled on a bit in places, but was overall pretty good.

About 1/4 of the way through Ulysses S. Grant's Personal Memoirs. Actually started it in September, but getting through the Mexican-American war was slow-reading for me :/

Finished: Salman Rushdie's Luka and the Fire of Life
The best children's book I've read in a decade. Finished it in a day. Can't wait to read it aloud to someone.

Figured I needed an easy read after The Stand, I'm already 3/4 finished with The Rift...

I'm now reading A Bend in the River by V.S. Naipaul, considered one of the masterpieces by the Nobel laureate.
I can see why. I'm about a third of the way in, and it's a really gripping read. Salim, an Indian Muslim shopkeeper, moves away from the African coast and buys a shop in the interior of an unnamed war-torn country.

Oh, my. I've seen the movie countless times, and loved it each and every time. Despite the title, I wasn't expecting the book to be as crazy as it was. Maybe because I've seen the movie so many times first, this is one of the few times I like the movie over the book. I didn't care for how overly crazy Bateman was, preferring the slower descent portrayed in the movie. I did enjoy the inane conversations he had. Especially the bit where he was on the phone with a couple other people trying to find a place to eat, but with all of the call waiting clicks and arguing, hours had passed.
