I don't think he writes very well, but seems like a fast read so I'll likely stick it out. Feels like a YA novel to me, though I haven't seen it notated as such.

Re: What are you reading? August 2011

Finished:

Leonard Mlodinow's The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives

John le Carré's Our Kind of Traitor

The first le Carré book I was able to finish (I found A Most Wanted Man easy to put down). Still open to checking out more of his work.

P. G. Wodehouse's The Crime Wave at Blandings

My first Wodehouse story. I can see the appeal. Deeply hilarious.

David Mitchell's Black Swan Green

This was my second David Mitchell book, and will ensure I continue to seek out his work.

Now reading:

Michael Chabon's Maps and Legends (2008)

Great collection of essays revolving around genre books, with a few welcome digressions. I know want to seek out American Flagg! and a dozen other books.

Just finished:

Memoir about the closing of a men's clothing store. Really really great book and a bargain at 99 cents for the Kindle.

Now reading:

One of my favorite books. Michael Ruhlman could pick any subject and make a great book about it.

Re: What are you reading? August 2011

Finished Michael Chabon's Maps & Legends (2008).

Now reading:

Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman's Good Omens (1990)

I picked this up with excitement and it wasn't until I started reading it that I realized it was well over twenty years old. I'm deeply ashamed that I had not heard of it until now.

It's also the first mass-market paperback I have bought in well over a decade. I'm not a big fan of the format.

I enjoyed it quite a bit actually. A friend loaned it to me, and said it can be trudging if you translate all the latin that is in it. I decided not to worry too much about and thought it was a great read. It causes me to think about how our world is in comparison to things that go on in the book. Very cyclical.
