I know most the stories were made for kids but, the "Scary Stories" and "More Scary Stories" books (i think there were 3) by Alvin Schwartz pretty much ruined my childhood. Even now I still remember most of the stories. Even the illustrations were creepy. Eeek.
For those who may not remember,

(they've done new reprints since I last remember)

I didn't know whether to like, laugh or write a strongly worded letter, to *someone*.... But yeah. At least two of these books are on my kids bookshelves and have been for years... It's kind of sad. They are obviously written as children's books. (Not to minimize your fear - I'm just older I guess. They scared the bejesus out of my 21 y/o son! And then his younger sister, heh.

Just finished this Michael Marshall book last week. Definitely a very chilling read with some beautifully pensive prose and finely written dialogue. One of the most unpredictable novels I've ever read.
