Seeker...you are the man. The Blacksmith's Gift is an amazing book. I recieved it from Amazon today and I quickly read it. It is full of such love and warmth...just as a Christmas story should be. I can't wait for the other two books in the series!

We'll be doing a promotion at Amazon with Polar Express during November.

Hope Polar Express does well in the theaters!

Well - a few people are buying Polar Express and Blacksmith's Gift together so far at Amazon.

I just hope my book compares well to Polar Express - I'm setting myself up a little, maybe.

Time to exercise the POWER of Book Talk!

Power? Well, maybe!

"The Blacksmith's Gift" is finally fully in the bookstore pipeline - UP UNTIL that last place - the bookstore itself. As a Christmas book, and not being aware of it, bookstores aren't going to order it this Christmas for the store.

BUT WAIT! Of course if someone ASKS for it, or ORDERS it, the bookstore will usually fulfill the order, usually order an extra, and if it intrigues them (especially with still a month till Christmas), may get more.

So - it would be great if some of you went to your local bookstore, Borders, Barnes & Noble, whatever, and said, "Do you carry "The Blacksmith's Gift"?

The answer will almost certainly be 'no', but we can get it for you in a couple days. (If the answer is YES - I'd like to know about it!)

You don't have to order it if you don't want, just say "that's too bad. I guess I'll look elsewhere, but you should stock it, it's a really great Christmas book." Or order one, I won't mind!

Do it for the lark! Do it for fun. Do it for me!!!

I will actually be able to report back how much power Book Talk has, since the only places that would order before Christmas without this is the couple of places I'll be doing book signings in Kansas City.

And Kansas City Otters - come on by to The Last Chapter Bookstore on Dec 11 from 1-2 - even if you just say "Hi Seeker!"

Hey, "Do you carry "The Blacksmith's Gift?" at your local bookstore

at least beats calling someone and asking "Do you have Prince Albert in the can" or "Is your refrigerator running?"

Thanks for considering invading your local bookstore and bothering Customer Service on my behalf...

Just checked Ingram's sales numbers for the book... 15 this week sold with 53 for the year so far. Seems to be doing pretty well on Amazon, though.

Hope you get a big fat royalty check!

With Ingram, we finally "got in" about mid-November, but all the bookstores have already done their Christmas orders for this year. It's next year we hope to do well with Ingram.

Amazon is doing pretty good, we've ranged from #865 - #5000 most of the last 6 weeks. We'll be moving Amazon order fulfillment to Ingram or Baker&Taylor early next year.

Those Amazon number are extraordinary, especially for a self-published novel. Well done!

(I'll respond to your email when I have a chance.)

Kudos to Seeker

I don't know if this has been posted before and even if it has, this is a good time to repost it. We have an excellent writer in our midst who recently published a terrific tale for the season.

The book is called "The Blacksmith's Gift" and it is absolutely terrific. It is even available via amazon and B&N. For those looking for a great gift for the holidays and especially those who wouldn't mind supporting a DVDTalker along the way (as well as DVDTalk through the affiliate link), you should check it out.

Here Here Seeker and congrats on the book's publication!!!

Not a problem - see you the 18th!

The 11th signing went nicely, but no DVDTalkers showed!

Match - thanks for the kudos - hopefully I'll get all the DVDTalkers who want to buy last minute Christmas gifts!!! (use the dvdtalk link for Amazon!)

PS - And now that we have a national distributor, it's available at your local bookstore, although you will probably (this year) have to go to the customer service desk and have them order it for you - but still, probably only a 2-3 day wait.

Seeker,

Anyone looked into you doing a book signing in NYC??? THAT would boost sales and visibility big time...
