I have to say, "The Blacksmith's Gift" is a really nice book. Very beautifully done.
I would suggest it for anybody who knows a child who is old enough to not buy the Santa Claus story anymore. It sheds a whole new, believable light on the Santa Claus tale and teaches some good, sweet, lessons. I think the language may be a little too comlex for some of the littler childern, but they can grow into that.

And thanks to RaraFemina as well! Hope you like it!
(BTW, since your family is from Norway, do you know the song På låven sitter nissen?)

It plays a part in the second story ("An Orphans Promise") which will be out on a different Christmas.

I just might order a copy on my next Amazon purhase. My wife's family is Norwegian, and while our son is not yet a year, there is no reason not to stock up on books for him early.

Any idea how many copies Amazon purchased?
I see this now:
Only 5 left in stock--order soon (more on the way).

So, yes, I can watch and see if anyone Really orders or not by watching that "x left in stock" just like you can! So, far looks like 2 copies - one from RaraFemina and one more since then (but of course I don't know if it is a DVDTalk order or not.)
Of course, I'd RATHER not be able to watch it, because then there would be more than I could account for!

I already have a few copies. Great book.
Seeker was kind enough to autograph one for me (that one I'm keeping), another is going to my nieces as a Christmas gift, and the third was given to my local library. They were very appreciative and seemed to really like it.

Seeker,
As you know, I already bought the book and I give it a two thumbs up.

Strong recommendation for fellow otters, especially those with kids or who know people with kids or who once were kids, but not those who eat kids or subscribe to the Michael Jackson parenting newsletter.
It really is a creative take on the story and I look forward to the complete trilogy.

Thanks to those who decided this was worth a look!
I appreciate it.

(If anyone wants to move this to Book Talk now - that would be ok with me - then it would stay on the first page for about a year or so....
