Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

As I only currently need one item from Severin’s entire catalog, and it’s a box set, I might be able to sit this one out. Would be nice if they did another box set sale like they did a few years (?) ago. I can’t remember if that ever became a repeat thing, though. I feel like it didn’t . . .

Guess I’ll do some hard thinking about that list of newer titles being discounted. None of them jumped out at me as must-haves when they were announced, but maybe I’ll have a change of heart.

Jebus. Severin is releasing Pod People, but without the MST3K commentary?

It stinks!

Severin sale at MVD/Oldies.com
https://www.oldies.com/collection-vi...rin-Films.html

Not sure how this compares to their own sales recently, as the prices seem to fluctuate a bit. The one Severin item that I need (previously mentioned) is the Steckler box, and it’s cheapest it’s ever been here, but even at $109 I worry that if I buy it, Severin will announce a boxed set sale (or some such) right afterward where it’s a lot cheaper. Decisions decisions . . .

Severin’s last few sales have had completely ridiculous shipping charges. Take that into account if you’re considering a purchase here.

Good point. The shipping at MVD/Oldies is free over $75. Not sure how that compares, but obviously exceeding that amount makes sense (which is why I’m hovering over the Steckler set – even if Severin beat that price, their shipping might even it right back out again).

Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

So I bought the Steckler set (and Accion Mutante) from MVD yesterday.

Then Severin launched a ‘Halloweeklong Sale’ today.

However, their sale seems kinda lame to these eyes. It’s a “Buy X Save XX%” deal with several tiers, the best being 60% off if you buy 20 discs. But with only 23 disc titles on sale, most of which any Severin fan probably already has, there’s not much to choose from. And these are picks supposedly chosen by podcasters, commentators and staff, and not low-selling stuff at all, I’m sure.

And no Steckler set, so perhaps I chose wisely.

Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

I noticed that the slipcovers only counted towards the 20, and that you could do two of each. I had 15 discs I wanted, but adding a t-shirt and four slipcovers brought the price down a bit thanks to the 60% off.

Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

The new Severin Films sale has been mentioned in at least two retailer threads, and since I just discovered it's also live at RoninFlix, I figured I might as well mention all of them in the Severin thread for unity:

RONIN FLIX Severin Sale
https://roninflix.com/collections/severin-films

OLDIES.COM Severin Sale
https://www.oldies.com/Severin-Films/collection.cfm

MVD SHOP Severin Sale
https://mvdshop.com/collections/severin-films

Prices are basically the same at all of them, but the thresholds for free shipping vary.

Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

Probably too early to post this here, but Severin sent an email yesterday stating that their summer sale will be July 12 - 15. Having skipped these for a couple of years now due to lack of interest in their newer releases and (as I recall) the lack of a free shipping option, I’ll probably sit this one out too, but maybe they’ll surprise us with some deeper cuts on catalog stuff.

When factoring in shipping and the fact that the 2024 releases are probably ineligible for the sale,it's probably cheaper to buy from DeepDiscount/Blowitouttahere when they get coupons. You get close to 50% off when stacked with a code plus shipping is free (or easily attainable).

Like you, I'll be curious if they do a deeper discount on older stuff or the Milan/Lenzi boxset which I'm interested in.

Severin’s summer sale includes a bunch of titles that are 75% off. Many, many BDs are $7.50 (and some even less!).

That section really worked out for me. Got a lot of things that I had put on the back burner.
I passed on Opera for now. I’ll probably grab it at Flashback weekend. Historically they’ve had a table there.

Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

I got sucked in as well and ordered a few titles since they were so dirt cheap. One of them was a Severin exclusive (the Tim Roth film) that I haven't seen on sale elsewhere for cheap.

They made me eat my words with that ‘up to 75%’ reduction section. Normally I’d be content to live without a lot of this stuff (especially Franco films), but the $7.50-ish price point is too hard to ignore.

I haven’t seen this batch, but I’ve read about them over the years, and based on most accounts I probably won’t keep many of them:

The Dogs
The Black Cat
Three Between the Sheets
The Big Sleazy Double Feature
Sex is Crazy
Paganini Horror
Macumba Sexual
Mansion of the Living Dead
Faceless
Castle of the Creeping Flesh [+ Slip]

- - - - - - - -

These were all bought previously, but I grabbed most of them when Severin blew out its DVD stock for $3-5 a few years back (except for the movies in the Christopher Lee box sets). Many of the DVDs versions were barebones, however (aside from trailers), so I can at least watch the supplements on these before moving them:

The Fourth Victim
The Sinful Dwarf
The Halfway House
Bloody Pit of Horror [+ Slip]
Blood for Dracula
Werewolf in a Girls Dormitory
Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals [+ Slip]
Doctor Butcher M.D.
Crypt of the Vampire
Sinfonia Erotica
Day of the AnimalS
Castle of the Living Dead
Invasion of the Blood Farmers
Invaders of the Lost Gold [+ Slip]
Santa Sangre
Saint Bernard
Robowar [2-Disc LE]
The Beast in Heat
She Killed In Ecstasy [+ Slip]

Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

Boxed sets are live. Not bad overall. A few have moved into the ballpark of Grindhouse’s November prices (except for EMANUELLE), while a few others stayed the same.

Just for reference this is my post from last November comparing the Grindhouse Video sale with Severin’s BF sale pricing, along with their earlier prices (crossed out) from the June 2023 sale. I’ve added this years prices in red, as well as the EMANUELLE comparison. The newer titles seem to be in league: DANZA MACABRE 1 at $49 and CUSHING CURIOSITIES at $67, and DANZA 2 (which has 4K as well) at $67.

Sleepyhead55 also noted in the Cult Bargains thread that Deep Discount’s 15% coupons might bring some of these sets to the same or even lower prices, so just FYI.

Re: Severin Films - Deals and Sales Thread

Man... there were two cheap ones that I was just going to grab...it would've only been $27 shipped... but I kept going back and forth to add things to get to the free shipping threshold... so now I spent $80 more.

I've been really tempted by the All Haunts set... but it's cheaper on Amazon!

I checked my orders to confirm that I bought that in Severin’s 2022 summer sale for $110. Odd that they’ve “sale-priced” it higher ever since. Assuming they’ve upped their SRPs (which I suspected back when I did the Grindhouse comparisons in November), it may never be $110 again, so Amazon’s $117 doesn't seem too unreasonable, especially for so much content.

Check out blowitouttahere from eBay, they have it for 50% off plus you can use a 20% off coupon. Only caveat is that you have to buy 3 box sets. They have several sets that basically discount for greater thatn 50% off and beat Severin prices when you factor in the coupon.

The all haunts box set prices out to $97 w/out tax.

Yes, I’ve seen that. Too bad it’s not mixed in with their other 20% sale items.

Thank you very much. Got 21 titles, sort of a homage to the demise of Redbox :-)
