Re: Warner Archive Sales

Sale went live at Midnight ET this time.

All items are giving the same discount regardless of the MSRP so most of the DVDs aren't really that big of a deal.

Same as last sale in March when this thread started

Increased from WBShop days, but I guess there is a reason 3 different owners of WBShop couldn't make a profit or even run a sale competently
Amazon is ignoring anything more than a year old, DD has chosen or been forced to cut their sale discount by half so $15-16 ea is their best recent prices on WAC, Target no long sells WAC or Allied Vaughn discs at all
and BN quit doing their better sales so a decent sale beats nothing. Bullmoose and BBY rarely drop their WAC BD titles below $18ea

I hope they don't pull them when no one is willing to pay those prices........

But then Flicker Alley gets $30-$40 for Mod's

Gotcha. I missed the last sale. I last WA BD I bought was the Grimm Cinerama disc but that was part of a bigger order rom a different retailer, so my cost per title was much lower than if I had gone through the WAS shop directly.

Re: Warner Archive Sales

This sale is the first is 2 years to be slanted toward or even allow the Multidisc Sets. This sale isn't going to be great for those single disc titles that have been part of the recent 4/49 sales or the recent releases
that Amazon has had good prices on. For the 2-6 disc sets (esp the TV series) these are the best prices in quite a long time esp since Target/Ingram dropped all Warner Archive items that would occasionally be
in the B2G1 sales.

Best List I can come up with of Multidisc Items sorted by price
I think I have confirmed all these are available and part of the sale plus corrected a number of the price changes (thanks for gudemameshiba's help)

Thank you for compiling the list! Unfortunately, there's only 1 I want (I already have Bogart & Bacall which is essential).

I didn't realize some of those UHD and 3D titles were considered Warner Archive titles.

Re: Warner Archive Sales

It seems that there are different subsets of Warner Archives,

Warner Archive Collection which mainly involve George Feltenstein's group with their selection, search for elements, meticulous restoration of specific older items and then a separate piece (or 2) lumped under the generic Warner Archives program
like TV shows, a lot of animation, HBO properties, the 3D and 4K items of more recent movies. This doesn't seem to involve all the intensive work and it;;s possible they mostly source the masters from Warner and then license them as part of the small batch produced and distributed through ALLIED VAUGHN rather than normal channels

I'm not sure how all the pieces fit financially and technically, but as far as Allied Vaughn is concerned they seem to lump all Warner property under the Archives labels. Most of these have some mention of warnerarchive.com on the rear label though not all of them.

No FS option, but no sales tax outside of IL unless things have switched so for some folks it's close to a wash -- certainly could run a test cart of items to check. $9/10/11 WAC outside the random item Amazon drops seem to be over.

The no sales tax would help. Even a $50 free ship would also make a difference! In their FAQ they try to turn no free ship into a positive...........huh??????

Not really, but maybe in a way. MovieZyng has been the direct sales outlet for Allied Vaughn who are the main source of commercial MOD discs in the US (maybe the world). They manufacture and distribute all of WAC, Sony, Universal pressed MOD discs
as well as dozens of other smaller studios. They supplied all the WAC DVD (burned and pressed) for years as well except that Amazon used to burn all their own DVD-R, but Amazon's failure rate were a magnitude higher than A-V produced burned discs.
They supply discs to the 2 main disc wholesalers left (ALLIANCE Entertainment and at least used to supply Ingram Ent Wholesalers) and directly to multiple other retailers. Ingram seems to not carry any of these anymore as
noted by Target.com eliminating all of those discs from sale over a year ago. Ingram seems to be the sole supplier to Target. They've been around for quite a while, but were never a big direct seller until Warner pulled the license from WBShop
and Amazon seemed to not be interested in actively promoting those lines. I guess they absorbed the WBShop sales rather than replacing them

Re: Warner Archive Sales

With shipping for me it works out to $13.75 a movie. Just not a good enough deal after I spent money on Criterion's flash sale. I'll wait and see if Amazon drops below $12 eventually for the few old horror blu-rays I want.
