Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

Arrow Video Yuletide Frights sale is on, up to 50% off until December 23. Pretty sure a lot of the $28 titles in this one were $20 in the Shocktober sales, so proceed with caution:

https://www.arrowvideo.com/campaigns...priceAscending

This sale also has some stackable options, apparently, but again not really great deals:

Flash Sale: Extra 5% off 2023 Staff Picks (although I think these have all been priced lower in previous sales)
https://www.arrowvideo.com/campaigns...lash-sale.list

Buy 4 Save 10% (mostly boxes, again pricing may or may not have been cheaper previously)

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

Arrow just sent an eblast about a sale starting tomorrow (Feb. 14), presumably their Valentine’s event. Might not be a bad time to add things to your wish list in case they have any ‘mistakes’ like the Shawscope Vol. 2 set for $35 for the first hour or more of the Oct. 2023 sale. Not really expecting anything like that, but one never knows, and sudden wish list price changes usually result in eblast notifications.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

Love at First Fright Sale is up. No big surprises after all, but some stuff seems to have been instantly OOS the moment it started (like the J-Horror Rising box, unless they didn’t really intend to sell it at 50% off this soon).

https://www.arrowvideo.com/campaigns...st-fright.list

ETA: apparently the ‘glitch’ in this sale was at the UK site, where everything was briefly priced at £9.00, including a selection of box sets (CRITTERS, FILM NOIR CLASSICS, ALEX DE LA IGLESIA). Not sure how shipping would’ve effected those deals, though. Everything jumped back up to MSRP pretty quick, though.

Yeah, I noticed that this morning. I clicked that Critters set for 9 pound and it said it was OOS, I refreshed it, and it was at 25 pound.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

Out of curiosity, I googled the “Arrow £9 sale” thing and one of the main results was a thread at – where else – the other forum, where it appears the UK sale was quite the shit show. A few folks got their bargain orders shipped out, most were cancelled, but Arrow – or whomever handles their sales – refunded some people fully, while others were reimbursed for product but not the shipping costs, while others were cancelled and not refunded at all (yet).

Honestly, you’d think a heavyweight boutique like Arrow would have their retail store sorted out by now, and yet this seems to keep happening. The very fact that, even in our smaller group here, I suggested a ‘wishlist’ tip for catching potential pricing glitches suggests there’s common knowledge of the potential for this to happen. The other forum is, obviously, loaded with people who know the game, as are many other places. Tough to believe that it’s still an ongoing boondoggle after a year or more.

Especially now that they’re owned by The Hut Group, whose whole thing is online retail!

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

Pretty good flash sale on Arrow's Giallo collections right now. I grabbed the $80 deal.

"Giallo Essentials for $80! Don't miss out on this week's Arrow Spotlight Deal! Get a Giallo Essentials for $35 each, or all 3 for just $80! Live until Monday March 3 or whilst stocks last."

"Easter Carnage" Sale : https://www.arrowvideo.com/campaigns...r-carnage.list

I picked up the Gamera Heisei box with an extra $10 credit, so it was 30 bucks.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

I got a notification about some wish list price changes ahead of the official sale email earlier today, including Shawscope 3, but alas it appears there were no screw-ups this time around.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

A new price drop on SHAWSCOPE VOL. 2, to $72.50. I don’t see any sale on at the moment, so this might be a make-up deal for a ‘special deal’ email that went out on Friday but wasn’t active on the site. Not sure if it’s been cheaper anywhere else, but that’s 50% off, which is about as low as these generally get.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

I noticed on my Amazon account ( YMMV ) there's a 30% off coupon for it as well, which brings it to about the same price as Arrow. Just throwing it out there as an alternative for anyone with Amazon credit card points, etc.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

Didn’t realize this until now, but the code ‘influencer’ is still active and brings the set down to $65.25, so I guess about 60% off. Plus you earn Arrow Points. The code was apparently still ‘live’ in my cart from a recent sale order that I never placed, and putting the Shaw set in there as a test automatically added it. I don’t really need the set as I got it when they messed up the price last year, but it’s tempting for resale some day.

ETA: Just noticed that this price is until June 2, or while stock lasts, which tends to make me think it might be getting low these days.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

They currently have a 2 for $60 UHD on select titles. So about $5 off each title for most of the list.

I'm new to venturing beyond Amazon and the big box players, is that a typical deal? Seems pretty weak to me, especially for 30 year old catalog titles.

Barnes & Noble usually has a 50% off Arrow sale twice a year, so that would put most of those titles at $25 each. So that should be your baseline for what to consider as a good deal.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

The other sale items that I would get are the box sets that occasionally get marked down over 50% on arrow video .com.

I’m talking about like the two Chabrol sets that go on sale for $25 . Even with shipping it comes out to roughly $30. And that’s way less than the 49.95 price w/50% off on the BN sales.

Pretty sure that Arrow deal runs all the time, or at least has been running for a while now. It’s been tagged on most of the emails I get from them for what seems like ages now. Many of those are probably cheaper during their various official sales throughout the year.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

There have been great deals on Arrow Video Blu-ray and 4K releases at Hamilton Books, too. Adam and others have been good about posting their latest sales in that thread. I picked up several Arrow Blu-rays for $12 and 4Ks for $20-$25 from Hamilton over the last 2-3 years.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

This seems kinda random as there doesn’t seem to be an Arrow sale on at the moment (?). SHAWSCOPE VOLUME 2 just dropped to $72.00 US. Not bad for those who don’t already have it. The lowest it’s been at Amazon is about $80 – briefly – according to Camelx3, so with $5 shipping this still a little cheaper.

Re: Arrow Video Sales Thread

Quick followup to the Arrow deal on SHAWSCOPE 2. I got an email from Grindhouse Video today noting that the set is officially going out of print and that they supposedly have some of the last stock coming in for sale. Their price is lower than Arrow’s at $70, but their shipping is $7, so it’s a wash either way. Without knowing actually quantities available it’s hard to say just how ‘out of print’ the set really is at the moment, but those who’ve been holding out for it might want to keep an eye on the listings at various sites just to be safe.
