I wrote a review of Girls Nite Out last year, if you're curious. If you're into '80s slashers beyond the top tier stuff, especially ones that try to do at least a little something different, you'll probably enjoy it. This one was definitely a labor of love, with folks from several labels piecemealing together the best bits and bobs from several release prints (and even briefly resorting to SD video when absolutely necessary), since there really weren't any quality materials available. For what it is, it looks terrific.

A few intriguing Kino Blu-rays and DVDs for $5.95 in the new additions this time. And for those who don't mind DVDs for lesser-known fare, the new batch includes a bunch of possibly OOP or going-OOP Code Red and Scorpion discs for $5.95 as well.

I found the French Noir deal at $14.95 a great deal since it rarely goes for less than 24.95 during the Kino sales.

I've got a few in my cart, but am not seeing the $50 minimum for free ship.

I think Kino does the $50 free shipping, but Hamilton books does not.

You're right. $4 isn't bad.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

I usually try to make a $50 minimum order with Hamilton to take the "sting" out of shipping a bit. And, yes, $4 isn't bad at all. I'm kind of on the fence about their "boxes" though. I've never liked those stapled together things. BUT - if they help keep costs down then why not? They *are* better than bubble mailers.

I agree with you.

When I was doing i-net retails, one customer complained that I used a box rather than a bubble mailer.................... sigh

Yup, in addition, the packages I get from Hamilton arrive rather quickly. The only caveat I would toss out there, is that sometimes a limited edition Arrow Set can get squished a little, so keep that in mind due to the way their media packages are assembled for shipment--they are packed under pressure...the person puts the media on the cardboard flat, and a machine straps it and staples it (more akin to a book service).

I suppose a direct email to Hamilton, if anyone is ordering a few LE Arrow Sets or anything similar, could request a different type of packaging arrangement.

Keep in mind that their primary business *is* closeout books - thus the packaging. So far I've not had anything get "squished" and *have* ordered several Arrow LEs.

IIRC, Goldenwheels has said before that it's a very old system and still works well for them. I remember getting books from book clubs in the 60s/70s in those kind of boxes.

Indeed. I've been ordering their products for about 30 years now.

Maybe somebody at Hamilton can look me up in their system and confirm, but I used to get their paper mailers and order shitloads of heavy books when I was in college, and they just somehow stuck with me since then. Great company.

Which reminds me...I feel another order coming their way!

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

My last three or four Hamilton orders came in regular boxes, for what it's worth. All DVDs and Blu-rays, including the occasional fancy packaging, and all fairly large orders, but everything securely packed. I received stuff on occasion prior to that in those weird stapled packs, too, but don't recall any problems. Maybe they're shifting away from those?

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

LOL, the stapled packs. They are called arks on the other site. I've only gotten a large box from Hamilton once from making a large ass order (I think it was like 10 BD's). I've never had anything damaged that they've shipped in those arks.

They always kinda remind me of opening Christmas crackers as a kid. You could have a person pull on each end and an explosion of movies would fly everywhere.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

My last 2 orders from Hamilton came in those stapled arks, one order had 5 items, and the other order had 6 items. All items showed up in nice condition, so not complaining about them arks!

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

I'm guessing those integrated pull tabs they use make the packaging easier to open - but I never use them. I figured out an "easy" way to remove those staples back in the 60s when book club orders would show up in those type of box and continue to use that method today. It only takes a minute and the staples are in the trash with a staple free box for recycling.
