Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Hamilton just sent out an email regarding low quantity items that are only going to be available through the website. Unfortunately, the site is down.

Does anyone know what the new drop schedule will be for 2024? If it's every 4 weeks on a Monday, I'm assuming 1/8/24?

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Those are very good prices (especially D.A.R.Y.L.!) on some recent Vinegar Syndrome releases, and anyone picking up all three of those Shaw Bros. sets will save $15 over Amazon.

Someone on the other forum reports that Universal Soldier: Regeneration ($4.95) is the Canadian release that features the NC-17 cut that isn't available on this side of the border.

The only thing I would note about these is that they will eventually be $25 in future Arrow 50% sales and you’ll gain points buying them there. Otherwise, $30 is still a decent price (although one further needs to consider that the Shawscope Vol. 1 box they all come from sold for $60 at Hamilton. Obviously it’s OOP now, but that might be a benchmark to determine how much more one is willing to pay for these).

Is there a big difference between these cuts? I’ll probably grab this. I know I’ve seen it, and I vaguely recall the version I had — and ultimately sold — having the ugly bilingual packaging, but I’m not sure I realized at the time that it was a harder cut. Mainly just curious here.

- - - - - - - - -

There are also a number of ‘recommendables’ (for the price!) in that large selection of Magnet Releasing titles in this new batch. Not outright classics, of course, but several 7’s or 8’s in my book and/or according to the legit critical response. Some of these are probably on streaming services you’re already subscribed to, or free streaming on the likes of Tubi, so it might be at least worth bookmarking them there:

- 12 HOUR SHIFT (US)
- AMULET (UK)
- CENSOR (UK)
- ENFORCEMENT (Denmark)
- IN ORDER OF DISAPPEARANCE (Norway, mostly)
- BURNING SEA (Norway) part of an informal, spiritual trilogy with THE WAVE and THE QUAKE, all big-FX Norwegian disaster movies.
- THE EVIL NEXT DOOR (Sweden)
- THE UNTHINKABLE (Sweden)
- YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER (Ireland)

Also, METRO is a pretty good big-$ Russian disaster show despite the artwork making it look like some Asylum knockoff of Speed or Money Train, and despite it being on the ITN label, which is home to a lot of Asylum-grade shit.

Sorry, I got my wires crossed and mistook these for the Shout collections.

Have not been keeping up on the latest releases on 4k. I went ahead and ordered THE WARRIORS LE poop cover, as I see the LE with original artwork was
only available direct from Arrow and is sold out. Made two orders for about over 20+ movies and 1 Cd.
will try to post the rest of my orders this weekend if I'm not traveling north.

Is each poop artwork unique, or...?

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Both available listings at the Arrow site seem to indicate that the sleeve has the original theatrical poster on the reverse.(?)

Both should also be cheaper in future Arrow 50% sales as well ($30 for 4K LE, $25 for Blu LE), where you’ll at least earn points. I see in the other thread that the Blu-Ray version is also on sale at Barnes & Noble and matched at Amazon; not sure about the 4K, though.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

This seems relevant for monday's new drop:

Also fellas. I believe it will be worth very your while to show up Monday evening, 2/5. And I also believe I have enough stock that even if you can't, they will (mostly) be there for you Tuesday. I don't normally predict as you know but in this case I have a good 30+ titles I think most of you will be all over. I'll even drop a really crappy hint Monday AM that will totally give it away.
OK gang annnnnnnnd....I just did final price approval on an order of 100 titles from another label, all in quantities 20-60. In the old days I never would have bought "shorts" like this for the catalog but for the web (specifically you all as I don't expect them to last long), I am doing so.
Simple explanation: On Monday there will be a 30 title drop from a label with a decent amount of stock. There will also be another drop of 100 titles with very limited stock where you have to purchase ASAP if you want those items. Goldenwheels will reveal these labels beforehand.
Also, Criterion isn't either of the labels.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Hopefully they’ll be meaningfully discounted in some way. Sometimes their pricing on stuff like, say, Severin or VinSyn almost makes them seem like they’re in partner relationships rather than straight-up liquidation. Fingers crossed!

They did do a decent Vin Syn drop for $9.95 on certain titles last year. I'm guessing one of the labels is Arrow (prob. the 30 title one w/decent amounts). 9.95 or less would be my price points for those. No clue what the other label could be . Kino, Vin Syn, Severin all fit and have been sold by Hamilton before. Maybe toss in Synapse or Olive.

I checked some of my previous order reciepts and the sale for VinSyn was like $13.95 or in that range. So that's probably the expected range for those titles. Also left out Scream/Shout Factory as another guess. That one might be likely for the 100 titles one.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

I’ve definitely gotten some bargains over the years there on Severin and VinSyn stuff (among others) when they’ve acquired batches they could specifically dump at low prices. Often their new release batches have some of that, but also other titles from the same labels priced closer to the boutiques’ own sites or Amazon, so it pays to hold off. I’m assuming (?) they just get different stuff from different sources, and that dictates what can be liquidated versus what needs to be priced higher. Obviously, I tend to clean up when boutique titles are blown out in the $7.95 - $9.95 range, so I’m keen to see what’s coming.

I just did a stupid 50 dollar order with the justification that I wouldn't order from them again for a good long while.
We'll see what happens on Monday I guess.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

So they’ll have 30 MGM Scorpion releasing bds on sale for 4.95-5.95 generally, with the most expensive one at 7.95. I hope Johnny Cool is part of the drop.

And the other label w/100 titles in limited quantities is Kino.

I just came here to see if any other details were available yet - thanks! Do we know when the drop happens ( aside from this "evening" )?

These were at the top of my list of suspects, (although I’d prefer some Code Red goodies to be mixed in). They’ve been turning up in bits and pieces at various places of late (Hamilton, Ronin, Grindhouse) in prices ranging from bargain to ridiculous. A lot of Scorpion titles are simply part of Kino’s site now, and turn up regularly in their sales (including at these prices); but other Scorpions seem a bit more rare, at least for now, so I’m curious if any of those are in the mix.
