A Touch of Zen is out until the 19th (I think), so some of us have no choice but to wait.

If some of the titles I want are sold out, I can always find others. My Criterion wishlist is yuuuuuuge.

Good grief! That's a lot of shelf space :D

Very happy that after the 40%+30% sale last month, my buy list is down to three titles for this sale. And since New World doesn't come out till the end of the month, I may just push that one off till the next sale. Since I still have a $20 GC left from the promo in Nov., even if don't get the use of any coupons, that's only $20 more out of pocket and I'm done. That's gonna be a good feeling for a change.

It's a pleasure to let you guys spend all the money this time :)

I think I'm just going to get the Road Trilogy and call it a sale. When does it end? I'd get The New World but the coupons don't work on pre-orders.

The Complete Lady Snowblood (I watched 5 minutes of this on Hulu today and knew I had to buy it)

What is BNTROPICAL supposed to be good for? I keep trying it and this is all I get: Item(s) in your bag are not eligible for this promotion.

Tried it first with a single item, when that wouldn't work I tried adding another item, still wouldn't work...multiple times.

Did your items total over $60. Just tested it now on seven Criterions (including one out of stock) and it works fine.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

No it didn't. hariseldon was saying it worked on a single item, didn't think that single item would be $60. My bad, sorry for posting stupidity.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

I couldn't be patient enough to wait for BNSPARKLER. Plus I didn't really have over $100 in immediate Criterion "wants." I used the BNTROPICAL code with success at around 12:10am EDT last night.

Barcelona
Dr. Strangelove
Band of Outsiders (upgrade of one of my favorite films)
Red Shoes
Tax: $3.84
Discount: -$15.99
Total Price: $67.81
...and I had a $10 gift card on my account that I forgot!

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

To make it simple and clear, it seems that BNTROPICAL will only work if you first add $60 or more worth of eligible In Stock items. Once you have $60 or more of in stock items, you can then add pre-orders sand other items to the cart to take advantage of the deal.

Wow... I find it amazing how people can drop $1,000 on just one sale.

Some good titles in that bunch.

I picked up 41 titles during the last sale. I'm not sure what I was more excited about, the blu's I bought or the fact that I managed to stack like 5 different ways of savings. 50%, 10%, $5 off coupon on each purchase of $50, free $10 dollar gift card for every purchase of a $75 gift card and 3 % back on my credit card. If only I could have gotten out of state no tax credit!

Well, I pretty much only buy movies on a good sale these days, owing to my backlog, and for the B&N sale each year I've never spent more than $100. As a result I had fallen woefully behind on a lot of Criterion films I wanted (or the few I was looking to replace on Blu-ray), and I am celebrating a milestone of sorts this month (end of maintenance payments to my ex), so... I decided to just go for it. :-)

Aw, man, Dr. Strangelove is OOS! Won't let me backorder it, either. Oh well, hopefully they get more in before the end of the sale.

Ordered:
Manchurian Candidate
Ikiru
Spy Who Came In From The Cold
Only Angels Have Wings

Will order:
Dr. Strangelove
New World

BNTROPICAL worked for the first order. Very happy with that.

I was just about to ask about that...I thought from what I'd read previously that ordering OOS titles could be done...but I couldn't check out with "Strangelove" still in the cart. (With no error message. This website is really lacking.)

Thanks for all the posts and info, which enabled me to order a basket o' happy.

A little Bad news :
Not that it make much difference anymore the BNSUNNY Tiered coupon that started out looking decently promising 10 days has now been thoroughly gutted. I'm not sure why they're even going to bother to release it in a few hours.

Now it's listed as Excluding Movies and TV like the BNFIREWORK coupon did by it's final release. This language changed in the last few hours and seesm to be the 5th change for it since I first saw it. Maybe they're just screwing with me

A bit more bothersome is that the "$10 off 100" and 20%/$75 coupon slated for July 25th also have the Movies/TV exclusion language

No changes to the 20/60 or 25/100 yet that I can see

In response to the other thread (no need to keep two going):

I'm not sure where to find which titles are not on Hulu...

Regardless, I've been looking at:

Wim Wenders' Road Trilogy (the first film of which is on Hulu)
The Complete Lady Snowblood (is on Hulu)
A Poem is a Naked Person (not on Hulu and can't find much information anywhere)
A Brighter Summer Day (not on Hulu)

Thoughts on these? Any other favorites that might not be on my radar?

Fantastic deal. I'm sure members can squeeze it even lower, but surely $14.99 each is an all-time low for non-members? Regardless, I grabbed eight:

TOUCH OF ZEN
CARNIVAL OF SOULS
MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE
DR. STRANGELOVE
ONLY ANGELS HAVE WINGS
IN A LONELY PLACE
IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT
FANTASTIC PLANET
