True, but when the 15/20 aren't scanning, but are working (or may be with only 2 reports) if typed in then maybe if better than not likely.
A couple folks have reported the mailer coupons not working the last couple days. If you scan it first and it doesn't work, then you are either at their mercy whether they;ll do an override, or to get them to manually enter the code. |
Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
10/50 in store bar code scan off phone worked smoothly for me last night. Will try 15% today and perhaps request manual entry first thing.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
By the way, for the 10/50 coupon in store, can a preorder be part of the total that gets me to 50?

Increasing number of reports of issues with the % off codes though almost everyone says the 10/50 is working. Apparently lots of stores calling Corporate about the issue so MAYBE something will get better overnight.
It sounds like when they dumped the online code they may have triggered something to mess up the store coupons too, but I'm not sure why one is working and the others aren't. More strangeness just like always. The last couple Criterion sales have gone so smoothly (relatively) so they had to fix something and now this again |

?? 8/40 or 15% email coupons or 20% email or mailer coupons |
Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

Got Gilda, The Player, Barcelona, and the in laws. |
Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

I could use a -15% or -20% coupon if anyone has an extra to spare. thanks! |
Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
so we can't expect any more working online codes till the end of the sale?!
what's the "upcoming sideways possibility" you're talking about? |

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
Tried to use my two 20% mail coupons today and got turned down. The system didn't allow it, so the cashier called the manager to override but was told no because the discount was already so much. I've never had that happen before, they always went through with no problem so I was a little bummed.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
Darn, most stores near me are out of 'A Touch of Zen' - did most stores get stock of them (it was released today) or did they fly off the shelves ? was hoping to use my snailmail 20% on it

Did you call and check -- some stores seem to always be late to get their new releases into the online inventory. You never can tell how many copies or if any are unattached without checking with them though |

"Thread over on another forum says 20% "Double Discount Day" for member card on Saturday (July 23rd). Supposedly from reputable source (B&N employee). Anyone able to confirm?" Not an unreasonable thing though odd time of the year. A bit of a bone anyway. |

All instore items should benefit from the double member discount (which in store only anyway).
There shouldn't be anything special about sale merchandise other than things that never get the discount (textbooks, Rosetta Stone, some Nook). You'll just get an automatic 20% at the register instead of 10%. Now whether the other coupons will apply or now is an entirely different issue, but normal Criterion now are $16 would zero effort - any added coupon or GC discounts will amplify any savings Still waiting for confirmation from other employees, but they have done this before though never during a major sale. |
Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
I was nearby again today so stopped to try the 20% mailer coupons a second time and got them to put them through. It was a different cashier so I asked if they would work on the criterions and he said yeah they should as they did in the past. The system blocked them as not meeting the qualifications again but this time when a manager was called they said to override it. So it looks like I may just have to get lucky with managers in the future. This was in Hadley, MA.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
I'm really upset with BN as a week ago I had a dozen titles in my cart ready for checkout and when I came back the coupons didn't work. Ridiculous that we can use coupons in store but not online.
The last time I shopped at my local BN I was told I was never allowed to use a coupon there again by the manager lol. |

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
You gotta love the employees that simply refuse to even scan the coupons.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
One clerk today wouldn't even try my 20% mailer coupon on a Criterion disc. |

Called one of my B&N and asked about Member Appreciation day. The manager answered adn said absolutely a go for the 1 day Double Member Discount on Saturday July 23. Of course more than one confirmation would be useful, but I'd say I'm 95% sure it's on |

If a manager is told by his boss at corporate to not accept them and does anyway or if he's told his store needs to increase it's net/marginal profit rates even at the expense of gross sales or the store is going to be shuttered then it's not necessarily in his best interest to allow things that are at/below his cost floor. It's everybody's paycheck that is at risk |
Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off
So I only have one criterion currently on my want list "Here Comes Mr. Jordan". I checked online and it is priced at $19.99. However, when I looked if it was in stock at a local BN store it states $39.95, and a message comes up stating if you want to reserve it you pay the in store price.
I usually get my Criterion's from Costco or the Criterion online store when 50% off, and have not purchased from BN in the past. If I go to the store will it be $19.99 or $39.99? |
