If you reserve on July 31 and pick it up you would pay full price since the sale would be over.

The 20% coupon starting Monday looks a bit more official though we won't know how it works until it someone tries it.

Thanks, I was thinking maybe the stores might not be honoring the sales price for all titles 50% off online.

Went in to my local B&N to pick up a few more titles.

Solaris
A Touch of Zen
Carnival of Souls

Glad they restocked on some titles, as many titles weren't available at my store when I went in early on in the sale. Might make one more order online before I call it a day.

Did you get the automatic additional 20% off (assuming you're a member) ?

I just picked up 6 titles and got the 20% automatically applied

Was able to combine snail mail 20% off cpn with the automatic 20% member discount - bought 'Samurai Trilogy' for $22.xx. Don't think I could have done any better on that title.

Are there any decent online coupon codes that are working?

No problem using the 20% coupon just now. She highlighted the item and then scanned the coupon. It went through just fine.

Out of curiosity, I ordered back when the 25% off $100. It is still listed as "processing." That's because I pre-ordered the New World, right?

What happens when the New World gets released tomorrow, but Red River and Touch of Zen are out of stock?

Does any know if the $8/$40 coupon will work on The New World that is released today? The wording now is different than before, where it said something along the lines of "coupon is to be applied before discounts and promotions". It doesn't say that anymore.

Anyone have an idea?

I believe the consensus is YMMV, but strongly more likely no than yes. If you're not a person who gets embarrassed by coupons not working, then you have nothing to lose and should give it a shot.

I talked with a CSR about my long processing order and they were, indeed, waiting for the New World and are now waiting for Touch of Zen to come back into stock.

Let's say I go to a store near me that has it in stock, buy it, and watch it. Can I return the one shipped to me to the store on the receipt of the one I bought in it's place? Can they tell which copy I'm returning?

I don't mind trying out the coupon just wanted to see if anyone else has any experience with it yet.

Do you know if the 20%off coupon that was emailed to us will even work on Criterion titles?

Those seem to be working as long as the employee is willing to do an override when it gets rejected when scanned. There was one report of it working out of the gate with scanning, but only one. Everyone needed overrides, but it seems most got them. It shouldn't work because in bold, oversized font at the top of the exclusions page the link on the coupon goes to says "Criterion Collection" first thing. But, so far, mostly so good.

Neither the 8 off 40 or 20% off worked for me just a few minutes ago on The New World. Needless to say, I did not drop 25 bucks on the set and left it there. They were not even willing to consider an override.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

I didn't attempt to use the $8/$40 coupon based on instinct. When I used my 20% off coupon for The New World, the cashier took a long time reading all the fine print because it wouldn't accept the scan at first. After she read it, she just did an override code and accepted the coupon. I got my copy for $19.56 so I'm pretty happy. The packaging is beautiful!

So far I think 2 reports of it scanning automatically and 8 overrides - so far not a single full rejection.

I did get the 8/40 to work on New World by just handing the clerk the code and telling her it was an $8 off any one Dvd or Bluray. She rang it up and it applied with zero problem unless the 15% codes I tried on Saturday (same clerk) with the printed coupon . even without the Criterion exclusion listed, she was going to do the over-ride, but decided to check with her manager first who basically said if the coupon didn't take automatically then no over-ride.

If you're close enough to go back, just hand them the written code and tell them what it's for. This in the past has seemed to be more fruitful for these hit or miss coupons

I was fearing this when I bought my copy this afternoon at Tyson's Corner - no problem ... $17.99 for 'The New World' (before tax) --- hell yeah!

sounds like this is one hot title - Bethesda sold out of their first batch of 'New World' discs by noon.

I went to another store close to where my daughter had an appoinment. Of course the coupon didn't scan through but they did an override without me even asking. Likely my last purchase during this sale. If they start squeezing coupons out of the Criterion sales then I will likely limit my total to 5 or less in the future.

I went to a different B&N today and this time the 20% coupon didn't scan. He gave me no trouble with manually entering it. Regarding whether a coupon will scan or not, it has been my experience that the cashier has to first highlight the item that the coupon is going to be used on and then scan the coupon. If they do this, the coupon will scan automatically. If the cashier scans the coupon without first highlighting the item in their register, then the coupon doesn't go through and they have to manually push it through.

I see. Went to Farmington and West Hartford stores today. Used 20%, 15%, and $5/50 at both, plus WeHa allowed an $8/40 on The New World.

Was able to score New World for $20 yesterday at the West Oaks B&N in Houston. (But it was the last Blu-ray copy) The coupon didn't scan for me either, but I was extremely polite to the lady back there and then to the subsequent manager who overrode it after reading the printed coupon. He said he even wanted a copy before the lady piped up that was the last one. (3 in and 3 out). But then again my 9-5 job is in procurement and maybe I just have a knack for these things, lol.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

Just a little irked that BN won't allow the current 20% code to be used for Criterions online. The nearest BN is 25 miles away, so any extra savings would be negated by the mileage, even at $1.72 per gallon. And that's not considering time spent along with the possibility of it being OOS.

I picked up 4 Criterions using the last round of codes just after the sale started & was hoping to get Touch of Zen & New World. Just have to wait until November, I guess.

As a BN member, I wish they'd at least allow their paid membership to use the codes online (just as Amazon allows extra perks for Prime members).

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

Thanks, hari. I thought about calling & having them hold a copy (and verifying that they were in-stock), but I had also forgotten that NW is $50 MSRP & that the savings would be even greater.

I may do this if a local game/video store in the same town has either a DVD or BD weekend sale beginning Friday. We are covered up with funeral arrangements today & tomorrow, so I couldn't make it there the next two days anyway.

I have so much to watch now (after taking advantage of the Olive sale at DD recently concluded) that I don't mind waiting until November if necessary. But thanks for the suggestions.

And I will use the 20% code for something (probably books). Got Goon & Hellboy library editions with 25 & 30% coupons.

I tried with both scanning the barcode and the clerk just inputting the code and both times got the "requirements not met" prompt. Could be that New World is a $49.99 and with all the other tinkering they've fixed that penny loophole?

I was able to use the 20% coupon the e-mailed though, bringing the price down to just below $20.

could someone post links for the coupons for in-store. I'm a member but I haven't gotten any mailers in awhile.
TIA
