Love Nolan movies, though disappointed he doesn’t get enough credits on award shows.

I picked up The Kingsman: The Golden Circle BD and John Wick Chapter 2 UHD for $23 and change using my mom's RedCard.

I really wanted to order Dunkirk but having just seen it, I'm going to wait for a deal on the UHD.

Now just need Blade Runner 2049 to go on sale soon!

Ditto. Will be heading there this morning to get a few titles.

I tried to buy some titles from Target online but they would not ship them to me. I didn't not feel like picking them up at the local store. So I ended buying 3 titles from BB. After $5GC my average was $8.99 before tax.
1. Dunkirk - $9.99
2. LEGO Ninjago Movie - $9.99
3. Despicable Me 3 - $11.99

Re: Target deals

This might be a YMMV situation, but I was able to get the UHD of Dunkirk for $10 last night at Target. They were out of the regular blu ray and when I asked the electronics guy if they had any more in back, he said they have been pricematching the UHD version. Luckily they had one more left, so I snatched it. Again, might have been a local deal where they made that call, but it might be worth checking a store that is out of stock of the regular blu ray to see if they are doing the same thing.

What will likely keep this from working for most people is their local store will be like mine. They easily had over 50 copies copies of the standard BD when I picked up my copy.

Re: Target deals

Yeah, zero chance of that happening if your store has copies for sale. Best bet is to check the site to see if you can do in store pickup. If it's showing out of stock near by, you MIGHT have a chance of it working.

No go on a Dunkirk 4K substitution at my local Target...

Is Dunkirk that good? Just curious because I'm thinking of the Steelbook from Zaavi.

If you’re expecting a war film with action Dunkirk disappoints. There is very little combat in this film.

FYI, the steelbook from Best Buy is on sale this week for $15.

I've heard it's a polarizing film in terms of entertainment value.

I thought it was OMG, not just ok. ;) Polarizing indeed.

Re: Target deals

I thought it was a good, very well directed movie. Just don't go in expecting huge battles like SPR. It's more intense situations for different groups of characters during a short period of time. Easily worth a blind buy for $10. Hell, you could probably sell the digital copy alone for almost half that on the other part of the forum.

Starting Sunday, Target is having B2G1 on movies, books, and board games.

Last year this was a very good sale because it applied to pre-orders as well. Target online has reduced their selection somewhat since last year, making it a bit less attractive.

Pro tip: Last year this was a good place to get the smaller distributor titles that typically don't go on sale. For example, the Cinerama titles.

I did that last time as well with some lower priced Criterion titles. It can also be a good chance to pick up some 3D movies.

Re: Target deals

And just a reminder, you can order three of the same title and turn around and cancel the other two if you need to. At least that's how the B2G1 video game sale went a couple months ago.

hdnmickey 02-07-18 01:47 PM

Re: Target deals

Interesting. Because when I've had to return parts of a deal where I got something free in the past, at the point of return, their system was smart enough to end up charging me full price for the one part of the order I did keep.

That said, I did pick up some usually hard to get on sale tiles in quantities of 3 last time. Will look to do it again.

Re: Target deals

Target's B2G1 type of sales just reduce the price of all 3 units. So if you bought 3 $20 titles, your receipt would say that each title cost 13.33, and that's what you get if you return one. I think it even states the return value right on the reciept.

mattysemo247 02-07-18 02:54 PM

Re: Target deals

Yep, exactly.

And if you order online, and cancel right away before they ship, your order page will have the new corrected amount on there. I still have several video game preorders that are 33% off and show the correct amount. And the ones that did already ship over the past few months have shipped at the right amount.
