Pass. < 50% discount is not what I'm hoping for on BF week deals.

Why am I delayed in seeing these? It's only a couple of minutes, but that shuts you out for really popular things.

I'm with you guys about being underwhelmed this year. I spent more than $750 at Amazon in 2011 and 2012 this time of year. Which isn't as insane as it appears ... movies and tv shows from Amazon are my "go-to" Christmas gifts for a few people. But I always ending up spending more for myself than for the gifts :) I'll still spend at least a couple hundred dollars for gifts, but I see very little for myself this year.

We haven't seen Black Friday itself though. And where Amazon really hit my wallet was when they price-matching everyone else's deals (less of a deal from Amazon with tax, but still saves me time and trouble not going to a store). Despite the name, Cyber Monday rarely has anything good for me so I'm not expecting much.

Bit on Take Me Home Tonight for $8.99...not a great BF deal but I've waited for this for a while and it's never been sub $10 on Amazon. Oh well.

I ended up pulling the trigger on SL. Didn't feel like it would be a movie that was ever really going to be discounted, at least at the level that I would want to pay. So, just bit the bullet and bought it.

How does the checkout work for these deals? Do we have a very limited time to keep the deal? I'm thinking if I need to get other potential orders lined up to meet the $35 limit. Or sign up for the Prime trial.

You have 15 minutes to redeem an LD, so you need to have other items saved in your cart if you want them.

Any guess on the price for Arrow Season 1 Blu-ray on Thanksgiving at 12:20pm PT?

It is one sale for $16.99 this week at Amazon and Best Buy but wonder how much lower could it go?

There are a few items like that. For example, 2012 Les Mis Blu is currently $9.99 (66% off MSRP). It's on the wish list for my parents so I'm definitely getting it. But how much could I really save (for the price of having to stay up until 3:20 am tomorrow morning)?

Sometimes they play games where the regular "sale" price is removed, only for the lightning deal to restore it. Deep Discount does that a lot.

Well said. I haven't bought anything from Amazon yet and it's looking pretty bad. Last year I bought full series of Sherlock Holmes BD, It Takes A Thief, Charmed, MacGyver, Andy Griffith Show and both seasons of Gigantor. I also bought some PM's from them simply because they were offered first and I didn't know if I'd get them instore. This year -- nothing. They simply aren't trying and it will be interesting to see the bottom line when this is over. I remember a few years ago, Target decided to not be very aggressive at BF and it hurt their bottom line. Though to be fair, no major retailer has been that aggressive so far. Best Buy has been the most aggressive and Walmart seems to have the most aggressive BF ad. Heck, if it weren't for FoxConnect and WB shop, my spending would be pretty minimal.

Agree on all points. It's as if they have settled into their monopoly and are now just going through the motions of having "sales ."

I'm going to guess $12.99 on the Arrow lightning deal.

Agree the deals suck so far...I spent over $300 last year...less than $30 so far this year.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is $16.49, only 50 cents less.

How much cheaper are we thinking the 6th season of Big Bang Theory will be tomorrow night in the lightning deal?

I may just order it from BB and then just return it if Amazon turns out to be a few dollars cheaper than the current 16.99 but...

Yes. In short, Amazon is getting very, very greedy and resting on their laurels. Piss-poor BF sales, combined with the free-shipping increase to $35, combined with charging tax in nearly every state, combined with $3.99 shipping charged on DVDs... No thanks. I hope many other customers are saying "No Thanks!" also.

It's not about being 'entitled' but about being screwed-over by Amazon's greed on appeasing their stockholders.

If they are, someone else will jump in.

combined with the free-shipping increase to $35,
Not an issue with Prime.

How is that their greed? They famously fought against it when they should have charged it all along. It's unfair to local retailers.

So it's hard to believe that someone doesn't have a sense of entitlement when they claim to be "screwed over" by Amazon over such items.

I pretty much got everything I wanted. Best Buy's shipping has been very quick and accurate. Like others, most of my purchasing has been through Amazon, but over the last few years, not so much. I spent around $100 at Best Buy and $20 at WBShop.

As to these single titles being released for cheap, I'm passing up on those (unless Pacific Rim Blu-ray will be $4.99). There are many more sales on individual titles in a year than TV shows.

Sales tax is collected on behalf of the state by businesses. It's not like Amazon.com pockets that money for themselves.

I am sooooooooooooooo bored of people who believe the only thing that affects prices is "greed." It's as if they know nothing about economics and/or were miseducated to hate capitalism.

Greed - you keep saying that word but I do not think it means what you think it means. Also, if they were truly getting lazy, someone could come along and challenge them like how Facebook wiped out MySpace.

Piss-poor BF sales,
But they sell out quickly despite "no one" liking the offers.

combined with the free-shipping increase to $35,
The first increase in over 10 years. Inflation isn't just for love dolls.

combined with charging tax in nearly every state,
Here's a map of where they currently collect tax, where they will in the future and where they aren't:
http://g.foolcdn.com/editorial/image...-tax_large.JPG
I count 17 states currently collecting tax, meaning the other 40 states aren't. (Heh.) Besides, they aren't "charging," they're collecting for the states. Want lower taxes? Cut the size of government.

combined with $3.99 shipping charged on DVDs...
That's if you buy only one. Buy five and it's $8 for everything. It costs money to pack and ship stuff. Amazon should do it for free?

No thanks. I hope many other customers are saying "No Thanks!" also.
If they're losing customers, they will change or die.

It's not about being 'entitled' but about being screwed-over by Amazon's greed on appeasing their stockholders.
How is it "greed" to make a return for your investors? If you owned stock in Amazon, wouldn't you want them to turn a profit or would you be happy losing your investment because they adopted a "No profits because it makes economically illiterate people sad" policy? Besides, Amazon ISN'T profitable. All those warehouses and stuff costs $$$$ and they aren't returning much to investors despite huge sales numbers.

I can't speak about other states, but the chart is not up to date for Wisconsin. The chart says "no plans to collect" but they started collecting tax here almost a month ago.
