Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

My kids and I enjoyed it (extended cut). I didn't find deep insights into anything, but I thought it captured the period well (think Historical Challenge) and without having seen the theatrical cut, I understand that the extended cut gave a fuller depiction of the character played by Tom Hanks. It didn't make him more or less sympathetic, but it did give a more complete picture of the era, and I would guess a realistic view of the world it depicts.

He's probably referring to the video quality reviews, not the film itself.

That Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy was on Amazon UK for around $16 US shipped (£8.50 plus S&H). It may be on "more buying choices " by now though.

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

^^^ Thanks for the effort on the long list. BDs in the $7-$10 range don't excite me unless they're new releases. There have been so many $5 BD deals (even $3-$4 occasionally, such as on BF) of older titles that anything much higher than that I just say to myself "I'll wait for $5 or less". Walmart's $7.88 bin doesn't do anything for me... the only title I've been looking for is Unbreakable, but it's never there and it'll be $5 someday somewhere.

All of these Amazon $5 BDs were $4.99 at BB a month or so ago, and I think most people already picked up the ones they wanted. Amazon is always a follower when it comes to matching BB, and by the time Amazon gets around to it I usually have the BDs in my hands from BB or Target. So as much as I dislike BB I always want them around as long as they continue to lead on BD and game sales to drag other stores' prices down (kicking and screaming).

It would be nice if that were true. But there are some movies that rarely drop below $10, Disney animated is an example, and there are some other titles that never seem to drop that low. The very successful 2010 movie How to Train Your Dragon (Dreamworks) is currently at $21.93(!) and has only dipped to ~$12.00 at Amazon. Another 2010 movie, Iron Man 2 (Paramount) is currently at $19.96 and has dipped below $10 only briefly, although the single disc release has gone lower, again only briefly. And good luck finding the first Iron Man (2008) movie for less than $10 on BD. Other very popular movies are bundled into sets, such as Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and the Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings, and never seem to get to bargain prices. Others do, the Back to the Future set, for example. Go figure.

Why some movies don't drop below $10 is unclear. Some studios (Warner, for example) are better about pushing volume sales through low pricing than others. Some popular titles seem to retain high prices for a long time while others are dropped quickly. It might have something to do with how well they keep selling. Most of the long list of low-priced BDs seem to be obscure "B" movies or very old catalog releases.

Disney also does that "Vault" BS where they pull the titles off shelves after a window period. That definitely keeps value higher.

Iron Man and HtTYD are ongoing series so demand for them remains. No sense dropping the value until after the franchise is stalling out.

I'd never owned Iron Man 2 till last BF when the single-disc dropped briefly to $3.99. I'd rented it and not found it all that great, so I wasn't willing to pay the higher price. Like how I have still never bought Star Trek 2009 despite really liking the movie. Until the current pricing, it'd never seemed to drop below $20 for me. I do think studio strategy and philosophy plays a major part in it.

Not having ever read any of the comic books, I also had no particular interest in the Iron Man movies: I Netflixed or borrowed them. But I found that my favorite sequence in The Avengers was the early one with "Black Widow" (Scarlett Johansson) "conducting an interrogation" and wanted to revisit Iron Man 2 to see more of her character; I purchased the single disc from that same Black Friday $3.99 sale you used. [And my favorite line from the movie is when Tony Stark sees "Natalie" perform and, smitten, says "I want one", to which Pepper instantly responds "No".]

However, from that series I enjoyed Thor more than the Iron Man movies, which I presume is a minority opinion.

Sorry, I missed this reply, but yeah, I was referring to the video quality since I already like the movie (though I'm not sure if I've seen this cut). I want to watch it again with the kids, though, so thanks for tying it in to the Historical Challenge!

Unless it isn't allowed under the new rules.

However, from that series I enjoyed Thor more than the Iron Man movies, which I presume is a minority opinion.
I am a comic fan though not much of an IM fan--loved the first movie but only saw the second as a rental. Black Widow is definitely the best part of it. I'd rank Thor between the two (haven't seen IM3 yet).
