Tried to a little regular shopping at Amazon today (both U.S. and Canada). I could search stuff, but kept hitting a "something went wrong at our end" error page whenever I tried to log in or view my cart. For hours! Heard on the radio news that it's because of Prime Day, of course, which I'd forgotten all about since I don't have it or need it. Must be getting hammered this year, or perhaps just blocking us unwashed commoners for the time being. Guess I'll have to wait a while to do any normal shopping.

Heck I thought this had been the best Prime Day so far though honestly it was a really low bar since I haven;t bought a single item since they started.
Harry Potter Complete 4K for $80 -- that by itself mya be the single best deal ever for Amazon Prime though it's still at best only matching the BN Xmas deal. The Monster Boxsets for $15 were pretty nice as well though barely beating some of the prior deals. The international Prime sales appear to be nonexistent this year for media unless they're hiding and i can't see them. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
OK that's weird about your cart. Do you leave stuff in your cart, or do you put it in 'save for later'? I have a bunch of stuff in 'save for later' and it's still there.

Prime Day has really become Amazon's excuse to dump last year's Amazon hardware in preparation for the upcoming Fall reset. It's a triumph of marketing over real sales.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
There are a selection of Criterions in the 20% off section. Most are 22.97 before the discount (a few are 17.97 before the discount) so they should be a little less than the B&N sale. There are also some Shout and Scream factory movies.

Lots of DVD cartoons/tv sets there. I saw Complete Beetlejuice and Little Rascals, etc., sets that you can add that 20% discount to.

Why not just wait until the final season to get the set?
And if you want to watch it all to catch up before season 8, just subscribe to HBO for a month. :) I love GoT but I really regret getting these as they were coming out. |

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
You're welcome (noticed there was no link, thought there was). There might be a few more, but the search feature on Amazon was coming up dog pictures.

Maybe I'm wrong, but a few titles that I have saved in my cart are suddenly eligible for the 20% savings, when they weren't last night.

Interesting. I'll have to look myself.

EDIT: Got 'The Marseille Trilogy' and the Jacques Demy set for $86.13 + SoCal sales tax |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Wow, yeah, there's >3500 titles now eligible - I think there were >1800 last time I checked. Maybe around 2k.
SIGH - now to go back through the list (nothing that was in my cart was included.) Nice alert! |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
The Back to the Future Trilogy for $16.99 sold out very quickly.
And it is back and only about 46% sold. Must have been a glitch. |

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
I picked up a handful of titles in the 20% off bin. Some pretty good deals to be had there, especially on Criterions!

$19.99 One caution: for those who care (I don't), user reviews suggest that this collection does not include digital copies. |

Easily the best price I've seen for it. The only negative about the set is the lack of digital codes.
