Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule

Tempted by Skyfall, but I think I can wait until it's $12 or less. I can't imagine ever paying for Looper -- fun enough once, I guess, but such a superficial and uninteresting little movie.

I felt the same way. I love time travel and Bruce Willis movies, but this was no 12 Monkeys. I'm so glad I rented it with my free VOD credits on Amazon instead of blind-buying it based on the raves I had heard about it. It was okay once, but I would not ever repeat view it.

Been feeling this way about every movie that critics rave about. Suddenly I see a deep schism in the way critics feel and the actual viewers feel. These days, I have done away with reading reviews before visiting anything.

Agreed. IMDB and Amazon have the most helpful reviews.

Remember that critics have to opine about practically every film that is released. Most normal people get to avoid the utter garbage because it isn't their job to watch all movies. After wading through the countless numbers of horrible films, critics are more inclined to sing the praises of anything that doesn't automatically resemble dreck. Not that I agree about Looper, I thought it was an excellent film.

Although audiences seemed to rate Looper fairly well too.

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Of a dozen people I know that saw Looper, all of them really liked it. It's a pretty poor movie to use for a conversation about the critic/viewer schism.

I wrote print reviews for a few years after college and, per the nature of the job, your perspective on a film shifts the minute you decide to view it from a critical perspective. I had the bonus of studying film in college so not only was I playing "critic" I was also playing "film scholar." I'm quite sure I would have been a public enemy. In fact, I know my review of A Beautiful Mind ruffled some feathers.

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I won't get Looper unti it's $5 before being an U/S offer. It was ok, but didn't make ground in cinema like many implied. It's tough to make a solid, creative, and new twist on time travel. But it seems foreign films have a better grasp of tough subjects, and the US audience just wants Bubblegum Flicks. Or at least that's what they are being force-fed these days.

... you do realize that critics are 'actual viewers', right? I mean, sure, they're viewers who have seen way more movies than anyone else you know, but I don't really think that's a reason to dismiss all their opinions.

The best way to use critics is by finding a handful you actually trust and only reading them. Rotton Tomatoes/Metacritic have totally ruined what good criticism/reviews should do - they can't tell you how much you'll like the film, but they can provide context, ask questions, and otherwise just generally make you think a little bit more about why you feel the way you feel about a movie.

I wonder if The Island US version is worth Upgrading if you have the UK blu-ray version of it.

I see the audio is alot better with a little more features.

Thoughts....
