Amazon Warehouse Deals has Criterion's Three Colors Trilogy for 32.75 ($80 list). An excellent price for a fantastic set.

So it has been reported. Since I've never heard of any of those titles, it isn't as if I have any reason to find out if the Echo Bridge reputation for poor quality is deserved.

They're a bunch of Miramax titles that haven't just been picked up yet. "The Grifters" is a terrific noir film, easily the best regarded of the bunch. The rest are middling titles from "talents", -"Jersey Girl" is the Kevin Smith film, "Fortress" is Stuart Gordon's futuristic prison film, "Heaven" is from Tom Tykwer ("Run, Lola, Run"), "Full Frontal" is from Steven Soderbergh, and so on. Most people will disagree on which are the outright terrible titles and may grudgingly admit to loving one or two like a favorite cracked coffee mug. If you've got them on DVD, you're probably not going to gain much, but if you've not heard of them at all, a couple might be worth looking into, if only as an Amazon order-padder.

Personally, I'm a real big fan of The Grifters, Fresh, & Fortress. I suggest checking them out sometime.

Great find! From reading the reviews, it appears I'll also be keeping my Miramax set for several significant extras that the Criterion set lacks. I've wanted to pick this up for a while. Excellent price.
