NIGHTMARE CITY can often be had at Raro's Facebook store (their official site) for about $9.00 during their regular half-price sales (which can include free shipping if you hit the minimum spend, and there's certainly enough in their catalog to do so).

Apparently the fixed version says "SUBTITLES: ENGLISH (Theatrical)" on the case..

I received my Let The Right One disc from Amazon yesterday that I ordered as part of this recent $7.98 sale. I can confirm that I indeed get the fixed "SUBTITLES: ENGLISH (Theatrical)" version.

Why wouldn't you? That issue was fixed years ago...unless it happend again with recent copies.

Yeah. All the old stock should have been taken out. Especially by now.

I ran across the Blacula price last night, I'm trying to tell myself I don't need it, but that's some classic 70's movie awesomeness there. Phantom of the Paradise, I believe I have the DVD (it's in storage so I can't be for sure), but also very fun flick.

You can never know with situation like this one. It's not unusual for warehouses to not do first in, first out, when handling inventory and shipping. When there is no change in the actual product, especially UPC, there can be one older copy that keeps hanging out in back of all the newer copies that get rotated. I've been burned by this before and also came out a winner when the older version was the better option. In these cases where there is no change in UPC time really pays no factor unless a retailer stops carrying the title all together.

I get that but this was 6 years ago. The issue came to light in March of 2009. The chances of receiving the earlier copy from Amazon is 0. They wouldn't have any in stock for that long and the manufacturer wouldn't send them bad copies 6 years later. Now, if you bought from an Amazon Marketplace seller, the odds increase.

Probably close to zero. But not really zero. It's an assumption that a retailer wouldn't have stock sitting around for years. But the reality is that unless they hit zero on hand at any time, those that remained could have been on hand for a VERY long time. It's as simple as the pulling process defaulting to last in, first out where any new stock that is received goes in front of the older stock and end up being pulled/shipped before the older stock. Amazon would be the first warehouse being caught of doing this and the result being a small amount of stock that is years old.

This is why recalls of product are always the better option when it comes to fixing issues like this. You never know when you'll be the one customer out of 100 that gets the ancient that sat in the back of the bin. Like I posted before, I shockingly got an older (better) version of some title once from Amazon and it had been years since the change had happened on that one.

I was the one to bring up the subtitle issue earlier in this thread.

Way too much time being spent discussing this, but I have to chime in and agree with hdnmickey. This was a legitimate concern.

Unless YOU have personal knowledge of the stock on hand at all of the Amazon warehouses, then you are only speculating. Jeez.

Worried about an issue addressed 6 years ago and I'm the one "speculating". Are you still concerned Blu-Ray might lose the battle with HD-DVD? That ended "only" 7 years ago.

Some more Shout Factory price drops (perhaps keyed to the March Madness "sale" their having on their own site?). Not entirely sure these aren't just dropping back down to earlier pre-order prices, but just in case:

$13.99
MIAMI BLUES

$15.98
MAD MAX

$17.99
INVADERS FROM MARS
CARRIE / CARRIE 2
BREAKIN' / BREAKIN' 2
THUNDER ROAD

$19.99
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK
CLASS OF 1984

Also:

MADMAN (Vinegar Syndrome) - $14.99
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UB0QIQE/

OSTERMAN WEEKEND - $14.99
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UJH1SF0/

THE TERMINATOR - $14.99 -- anyone know if this is just the same old disc in new packaging?

Probably just new packaging that they are going to include movie money with. I kinda like the red case.

Yep, I was weak, my wife needed a new wall charger for her phone and it was one of those, while I'm there....yep 'How did Blacula get added to the cart, that's really a movie, I thought it was a running joke?' Mine in two days, oh yeah.

Wow, should have picked up the original Lifeforce with the slipcover when I saw it for ~$20 at Frys that one time...had no idea that one went through the roof price wise.
