Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

This didn't work for me when Prime upped their prices last time. It just credited me the amount and then charged me for the remainder of Prime at $99. So chances are if you try this, you'll just get a $72 credit for a $99 membership (and have to pay the difference).

[Columbia Pictures president Harry] Cohn strongly disliked Welles's rough-cut, particularly what he considered to be a confusing plot and lack of close-ups (Welles had deliberately avoided these, as a stylistic device), and was not in sympathy with Welles's Brechtian use of irony and black comedy, especially in a farcical courtroom scene. He also objected to the appearance of the film - Welles had aimed for documentary-style authenticity by shooting one of the first major Hollywood pictures almost entirely on location (in Acapulco, Pie de la Cuesta, Sausalito and San Francisco) using long takes, and Cohn preferred the more tightly-controlled look of footage lit and shot in a studio. Release was delayed due to Cohn ordering extensive editing and re-shoots by his assistants at Columbia, who insisted on cutting about an hour from Welles's final cut. Whereas Welles had delivered his cut of the film on time and under budget, the reshoots he was ordered to do meant that the film ended up over budget by a third, contributing to the director's reputation for going over budget. Once reshoots were over, the heavy editing ordered by Cohn took over a year to complete. Welles was appalled at the musical score and particularly aggrieved by the cuts to the climactic confrontation scene in an amusement park funhouse at the end of the film. Intended as a climactic tour-de-force of editing and production design, the scene was cut to fewer than three minutes out of an intended running time of twenty. As with many of Welles's films over which he did not have control over the final cut, the missing footage has not been found and is presumed to have been destroyed. Surviving production stills show elaborate and expensive sets built for the sequence which were entirely cut from the film.

You can't just buy a year and have it extend a current membership. It works like two completely separate memberships.
Turn off auto renew.
Look to see when your current year ends.
Buy a gift year at $72 (today only)
Set the gift to arrive the day yours ends.
Redeem the gift that day or anytime thereafter to restart your membership.

No, it works. You just have to know how Prime works.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
I'm still waiting on my Police Academy collection that was ordered on the 11th of January and "dispatched" on the 12th from Amazon UK. I still haven't seen a hide nor hair of it. I also ordered the Superman Anthology a week later and now I am nervous about that. Is there any recourse for lost orders from there?

I still haven't received my Superman Anthology set but we were having issues with the USPS out here and stuff was arriving late even within the U.S., so I'm going to wait another week before sending them an email. They're good about sorting it out, so don't worry.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I really want that Police Academy set despite the movies not being nearly as good as I remember them when I was younger.

Yea, I've had UK shipments come in 1 week, other times it can take over 4 weeks. I think the worst was like 6 weeks. But Amazon UK is usually good about it, they sent me out a second Superman set after I didn't get it in I think 4 weeks, and then I got two copies of it in like the next week. They didn't want it back tho, so I worked out well for me

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Amazon UK really stepped up the CS in an insane way. My Superman set was supposed to be here on the 21st and hadn't arrived as of yesterday. I decided to let them know just to get the ball rolling in case the set was lost or something. I literally just told them it was late and asked them how long they'd like me to wait before I should start worrying. I expected them to ask me to wait another week just in case, which I'd be good with considering how cheap that set was.
Instead, I got an email last night from them apologizing for it not arriving yet and they would be shipping out another copy via Global Priority. They just asked that I cancel this order if the set comes in before it ships. If it doesn't get there before the replacement ships, keep the original one if/when it shows up. That's more than fair enough by me.
Except the replacement already shipped this morning. Damned fine CS by me.

Amazon UK is WILDLY appreciative for your business.
I got that LE Battle Royale set a while ago. It'd been like a month after it was supposed to arrive. Apparently they had crazy snow over there. They refunded what I paid...AND let me keep the item should it actually arrive. It did. I was fucking impressed.

But you all are right about their service. When I found that my (Region Free) James Dean set included Bonus Features on DVDs that weren't region free, I did an online chat to ask them how to return it without paying $30 in postage. They just refunded me and told me to just keep it, give it to a friend or throw it away, whatever I wanted.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
I've heard a huge percentage of Amazon.co.uk's business is from North America and they seem very willing to help out when an international order goes wrong. People shouldn't overly worry about delayed shipments from them, customs occasionally inspects a cargo container and delays shipping time by a couple of weeks.
