Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ

Picked up Person of Interest season 1.

Sucks that it's a 10 disc set with the DVDs.

I have a $10 credit on my AMEX card for syncing it through my Xbox 360

Total price= $11.99 + tax with free shipping.

Depends on what your taste is. Lone Wolf were the original movies and that only comes in Japanese language. However, Animeigo screws up with the transfers since according to reviews, it is subpar.

Shogun has the better transfer but its a re-edited versions of Lone Wolf with English dub.

I bought both but if I had to choose, I will go with Lone Wolf just because of the original movies.

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

When I ordered Mulan and Hunchback, I clicked on the link that included those two and Roger Rabbit. In checking my order later, I saw that Amazon had selected the DVD packaging for the Blu-ray/DVD combo of Roger Rabbit. A word of caution.

Its not quite that simple.

Shogun Assassin 1 is the first two LW&C movies edited together. A lot of the story content is edited out, its mostly the action sequences with just enough story to hold it all together and the english dub changes the feel of the film drastically. Its a cult classic; if you've ever listened to the early Wu-Tang albums (especially GZA's Liquid Swords) that's where all the dubbed dialogue came from. The remainder of the Shogun Assassin movies are straight dubs of the LW&C movies (so LW&C 3 is SA 2, etc).

IMO all you really need is the first Shogun Assassin movie (it stands well as its own unique piece of cinema) and then all the Lone Wolf & Cub movies which are fantastic in their original form and are more serious chanbara in the vein of the Zatoichi or Sleepy Eyes of Death series.

I haven't seen the Animiego release of LW&C so I can't comment on it but the dvd set Eureka put out in the UK is fantastic, as long as you're region-free.

More fantasy than sci-fi, although the genres do overlap a lot.

I watched the first two seasons but it didn't really grab me. Much as I liked Amanda Tapping in the Stargate SG-1 series, her attempt at an English accent in Sanctuary was rather off-putting. Overall, I was disappointed.

Given how inexpensive the seasons are you can give them a try but I'd keep expectations in check; depends a lot on what sort of TV series you like.
