Target has now decided to mix DVDs and Blu-rays together. Most people will see the change within the next three weeks.
A couple of local Best Buys at smaller locations near me have already gone this route. I had to check out at the service counter.

It's true. Many of the changes they make come across as attempts to frustrate customers rather than increase sales. And I get into more arguments with employees at Best Buy than any other store by far.

I've noticed Target has done the 'mix' with TV on BD and DVD.

I guess it just makes more sense for reducing space.

The cell phone department got bigger and my store has the little mini 'Apple' station.

A huge YMMV, I was able to get The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection(Rebecca, Notorious, & Spellbound) for $9.99. The shelf tag had the correct item description and the correct regular list price of $59.99. However, the sku was wrong and it did ring up for $29.99 at the register. When I showed them the shelf tag, they did honor the $9.99 price.

I was at a different store today and they had the correct sku and the correct sale price of $29.99. I guess that it was a screw up at that one store that I stumbled upon and got lucky.

Found Hitchcock Essentials Collection with a $9.99 shelf tag it listed the reg. price as $54.99.
Got it for $9.99

I'm still baffled at why they are attempting the Samsung Experience. It's right next to the DVD/Blu Ray/Music section and is always empty. It's as if people are purposely avoiding it.

I was just in my local store today to get a CD and they redid the media section again. It's the 4th time this year alone. Another 2 sections were removed for a kiddie toy area with some other Disney stuff. I overheard a guy who was giving a tour of the store to new holiday hires and said that by the end of next year they won't be carrying catalog titles and plan to expand the cell phone section even more.

The times have certainly changed.

On the plus side, they had quite a few good titles in the dump bin this time so I picked up some stuff.

One of my local stores had a new layout too, to be honest it didn't bother me at all.

I worked in Management in Retail for 4+ years previously, so these kind of changes I understand and don't really phase me.

Yes, they have less, but they still had what I came in for today. Everyone is a bit upset that catalog titles aren't being represented, but both of my local stores had tons of catalog titles that are sitting there and rotting.

What I did appreciate today, is that everything I saw had shelf tags/prices, they had everything I was looking for, all new releases were represented and the catalog titles they did have were really cheap/on-sale.

The business model is similar to that of Target, but I rarely hear people here complain about Target's Media Section, which is mostly new releases and random catalog titles.

Amazingly I just happened to check this evening and found a BB exclusive Gangster Squad copy labeled at $7.99 tucked in amongst the regular versions which were all $29.99 () . The slipcover is a little damaged, but that's not a big deal. Thanks for the heads-up, matty.

The difference is that Best Buy is an electronics store, and historically had a very good selection of movies. Target is a department store, and never had a wide selection.

Yea, I just caved and bought the Burton collection that was on sale at Amazon last week specifically because Pee-Wee was never cheap.
