Yup! I wanted to clarify for anyone reading my post early or late, which is why I wrote DOTD (Deal of the Day) in it.

Worth noting that Black Panther (4K) is also on-sale at $14.99.

Best Buy has the Skywalker Saga 4K set for $199.99 as part of their May the 4th thing.

The singles are $24.99, as they’ve been for a bit.

Depending on what you are looking for.

In terms of 4K Disney Steelbooks, everything at current price has been that way for a few days. All titles have been on-sale before.

With standard BD Disney Steelbooks, there are a few items on-sale that I haven't seen in the past few sales:

Ant-Man ($9.99)
Avengers: Age of Ultron ($9.99)
Wrinkle In Time ($9.99)
The Santa Clause (3-Movie Collection) ($12.99)
Cars 3 ($12.99)
Mary Poppins ($13.99)

It could be worse; at least the big corps are still releasing both new & restored old films. I'm also a music collector & due to streaming & corporate bean counters we're not getting much of anything the last 6 months or so.

Re: Best Buy / bestbuy.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

The usual Disney steelbook suspects are on sale with one (to me) new one:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/avenger...?skuId=6354135

Avengers 4-Movie Collection [Steelbook]: 64.99 (was 149.99)

Ok, I'll bite. I have Disney Plus, I have the last two movies in 4k in a steelbook, but I guess I'm some kind of sucker because I couldn't resist.

Did someone seriously overestimate the demand for those Disney/Marvel steelbooks?

In 2019 maybe, but sort of depends of the terms of the deal BBY got whether they made more or less money by overestimating than underestimating.
If they sold 10-20-30% more SB at full price up front b/c everyone was expecting the SB to run out like they had in the past, but then dumped the excess for clearance prices it all depends if they negotiated a significant decrease in unit cost for ordering so many up front. Since most of us don't know the numbers, it seems to impossible to say whether BBY made a good or bad decision -- and that's not counting the Door Buster effects those deals had in December.

In 2020 -- it appears the production numbers have gone back to 2018(and before) estimates with new SB selling out the first week or two and the March Pixar being in short enough supply they haven't had to touch those prices yet. Some folks are already crying that they got duped by BBY b/c MOE, Frozen II, and ROS ran out before they "could buy for the 9.99 prices like always."

I think it's simpler than that.

Disney+

I considered Finding Dory for $5 (who wouldn't?) But I didn't love it and if I want to watch D+ has me covered.

It looks like you cannot shop inside Best Buy now without an appointment. That's for guys who want high end electronics, cameras, TVs and computers and such.

So if you just want a Blu-Ray or Game, you're probably going to still be stuck with curbside pickup.

There's a certain irony in there, because every time I've gone to Best Buy in the past few years, the stores are so empty that practicing social distancing wouldn't be a problem.

So...Best Buy is now officially known as Bye Buy.

Re: Best Buy / bestbuy.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Westchester County in NY State has entered phase 2 of opening so that for the first time since March we have
Curbside pickup & scheduled consultations only at Best Buy. Prior to this the stores were completely closed. If we wanted curbside pick up we had to go to Connecticut. Progress.

I was able to order Wonder Woman: Bloodlines 4K which apparently is now only available for in store pick up. Thanks for the heads up Joey Seven.

Forgive this being maybe slightly OT - but I just got an e-mail regarding some stores in NJ reopening in this way soon (they're vague about when and which stores).
My question: WTF is "scheduled consultations only" anyway?

Probably Geek Squad stuff, or whatever other services they offer (mobile phones?)

My guess is it's for mega buck TV's & stereo from their Magnolia department.

Actually it’s so only a few people are in the store at any one time. My store has been open for two weeks by appointment only. I bought a TV that way - made an appointment on Sunday, went to the store on Wednesday. It’s super weird, but it doesn’t force you into buying something expensive.

Re: Best Buy / bestbuy.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Has anyone tried shopping at Best Buy lately since stores started reopening?

If so, is it true that you can no longer just walk in now and can only do curbside pickup or make an appointment for a higher end purchase?

So you can't walk in to browse anymore?

What's available seems to be dependent on where you live. I'm not sure any store is allowing free access yet.
Appointments are available, but what's allowable to request at appt seems to be store and region dependent. I know some one put in a request to "BUY movies" (or look for movies) and had
his appt cancelled

TV, Phones, Refrig/W-D, Computers, Geek Squad, maybe Magnolia likely would be more acceptable. Now once you are in the door I'm not sure how much extra leeway you'd get, but I
understand many stores have removed a lot of the standups, New Release racks, bins, endcaps anyway and have those discs in an employee only area even if the store is getting much
stock anyway. A couple employees have posted their Movie Drops have decrease substantially since there really isn;t a reason to have a lot of browsable material

Re: Best Buy / bestbuy.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Depends where you are. Called my Best Buy to see when indoor shopping is back. Said they will start Monday 10 am to 6 pm. Limiting number of shoppers so may have to wait before allowed in. . Will check it out later this week and see if any good bluray deals since Father's day is next Sunday

I don't think anyone will have to wait to shop on the inside of a Best Buy. End caps will probably have surgical masks.
