Interesting. I guess that's like the Austin Powers cases (from the 3-film collection). I believe those are slim BD-size/color cases.

Hey, that's awesome.
Sorry, maybe I wasn't being very clear. You can use these as a trade in. At least mine did, which is why I bought them. So you spend a penny on one, and turn around and trade it back in for the $5 coupon. I actually thought it was a good idea since I didn’t have any DVDs that I really wanted to get rid of right now. Not planning on keeping any more than one copy just because I actually want to check out the show.

Out of curiosity, anyone know what they do with the dvds?

They probably sell em to TWEC (FYE/Suncoast). Just a guess, but I know they seem to sell tons of used crap...

Wow. Definitely YMMV on that, but it sounds like a great plan. I wonder if they didn't realize it was a promo disc.

I wonder if this trade-in program is Best Buy's way to whittle down a lot in-store merchandise so they don't have to stock it in-store anymore. Seems that Best Buy is moving towards carrying the latest releases and not much else.

How many of you have gotten Blu-rays that were 9.99 and ^ but not listed in the sale?

I'm thinking of getting a haul this weekend.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012

Went to the same store I hit yesterday. The Manager was at CS desk, and she took my 4 DVDs + 1 HD DVD. She handed me the coupons and very clearly stated the $5 discount would be applied to the original price, not the sale price. Hmmm....

So, I got 5 Blus and went to the register with them where the $5 was taken off the sale price, just like yesterday. Stripes rang up at $9.75, and the $5 was not applied. I didn't want to have the cashier call that Manager over who might possibly over-ride my other 4 purchases, so I just took it and left. I will return another time for an adjustment, or just return it outright.

No problem getting them here. I got The Guns of Navarone, The Last Lions, and Heavenly Creatures. As far as I know, none of these are on sale, their regular stickered price was $14.99, and each was $9.99 with trade-in. With a few stray exceptions, it appears that most stores are living up to the terms of "any BD $9.99 and up" eligible for the discount.

Traded in a Best Buy promotional disc (Coming Attractions: Vol. 1) from 2003 and walked out with Demolition Man for $9.99 after discount.

there is no list .... as long as it is $9.99 and up (and not a music BD) the $5.00 coupon should be valid

the only denial I had was I picked up the Seven and Green Mile digibooks that were still on the shelf with tags showing the $10.99 sale pricing (which ended Saturday) .... the "customer service" rep did a price adjustment down to $10.99 on each but would not apply the coupons to the markdown to bring them down to $5.99 each

Man, I didn't find any Game of Thrones samplers at my Best Buy. Can someone please post the SKU from the sticker so I can call stores and have them check stock?

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012

Got turned down on GLORY as it rang up $9.75 and they wouldn't do an override. This $9.75 nonsense seems to be a direct response to this coupon offer; why lose five dollars on a title when you only have to lose a quarter?

Also, someone above posted that ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST was ringing up at $9.99 and selling for $4.99 with the coupon. It was stickered $14.99 and rang up that way at the store I was at tonight. ???

Walked out with nothing.

Any chance we could use the $5 coupon toward preorders? Was hoping to use it on a title that's coming out after January 28th.

I know this promotion ends on the 28th, but is that also the expiration date of the $5 coupons, or can they be used later?

They expire on the 28th. This is the second time BB has done this promo, so it's likely they'll do it again at some point with new SKU coupons.

Just did the deal. Was told by customer service the discount wouldn't apply to sale items, but it did at checkout. Stripes was also marked at $9.99 on the rack, but rang up $9.75. But 3 of the movies I really wanted they didn't even have.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012

Stopped by a couple stores while out today. Got rid of some dvds my dad gave me since he didn't want them (and I already had them so I didn't want them either). I had no other idea what to do past throwing them in the trash so this works. The lady didn't even look at the pile or count them well as she just printed 5 coupons and gave them to me (was kinda worried as the titles were adultish but not porn). I pointed out there were 6 titles and she said there was a limit of 5 per person. Pointed at the gf standing next to me and she printed up the 6th on a separate receipt.

Tried to get Inkheart but once at the car, I realized the price was higher than it should be and we found it rang up at $7.99 and didn't work with the coupon. Had to go back in and got my coupon back from the cashier and then returned the movie. (no sign at either store that shows this being on sale)

ended up with:
Incredible Hulk $2
Smoking Aces $5
Journey to the Center of the Earth $5

Sweeney Todd $5
Cowboys and Aliens $13

kinda bummed I didn't have any more of the Universal coupons with me or I would have tried for Smoking Aces for $2 also. Cashier just looked at the coupon and took $3 off. I thought about coming back but both stores only had 1 copy (and only 1 store near me still had Hulk). Also probably not worth it to drive back for the savings.

info on the coupon as taken from CAG.
This is a Universal contest. One link allows you to get a free code. The other link is to enter the contest. Once you lose, you're allowed to print a coupon for $3 off any Universal 100th Aniversary Blu-Ray or DVD.

I went today and bought Money Ball with the 1 coupon I had left. However, for some reason the lady stuck the coupon in my bag and I now have it. Is each coupon unique or can I use it again?

Hell, I returned a copy of Stripes that they tried to gift me yesterday so I don't feel bad about using a coupon that they gave back to me.

Is there any way to tell when unlisted sales might end? The other 2 titles I am looking at appear to be on sale at $7.99 but not listed as such in store. (Shoot 'Em Up and Inkheart)

According to blu-ray.com people said that walmart will take competitors coupons. They are saying it worked on the last trade and save. Can you say 3 disc Walmart Exclusive Moneyball for 14.99?
