I'm really really debating hard between all of these boxsets (Hitchcock and Monsters). I wish we had a more detailed look at what will be inside, as I'm pretty sure the disc content should be the same.
Hitchcock (UK regular vs UK deluxe vs US) UK regular vs UK deluxe: no brainer, considering the price difference, deluxe easily wins. UK vs US: pricing should also make this a no brainer, but I can't help but feel the set is slightly less complete without NxNW. I think I also prefer the US art, but I'd assume the UK regular set would feature the same art. The classier version in the deluxe set does look good though. Monsters (UK regular vs UK deluxe vs US) Identical sets with a huge difference in price means the US set isn't even in the running. UK regular vs UK deluxe: The packaging is pretty neat, but the difference in price is a bit steep just for the packaging. Also consider that there is already a very nice digibook release of NxNW available for cheap. Even buying that seperate with the UK set is way cheaper than buying the US set. For me it was a win-win. |
re: International Blu-ray deals
damn... could not resist the UK Hitchcock set at that price... especially since I already have the North by Northwest Digibook :)

re: International Blu-ray deals
I am definitely ordering Hitchcock Deluxe edition but like most of my fellow DVDTalkers here I can't decide if i should go with Monsters UK regular or UK deluxe set.
I also wanted to throw in an Aline Anthology but I have a question about the set. Is it same as US release ? Is there any problem with the 6 disc set ? I can see 4 disc set lacks bunch of extras but 6 disc set look similar to US release. |

Price is pretty good too around $23. I am already placing an order so why not. |

I've been watching all of those (except Big Bang), but don't have a region-free BD player, so guess it's just the Hitch collection for me.

re: International Blu-ray deals
I think when the item name has the [REGION FREE] tag, that's reliable.
Plus, even if it weren't, that would be grounds for a return/refund. |
re: International Blu-ray deals
Not 100% reliable. I've had to submit a few corrections to Amazon UK to inform a few of the discs are in fact NOT region free. It takes them a while to correct as well.

re: International Blu-ray deals
Always read the Amazon reviews. Usually there's a confirmation in there.
Otherwise, Google before ordering. |

Not sure if this is an all-time low, but nonetheless:
Lethal Weapon Collection Blu-ray - £16.97 (about $27 U.S. shipped) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003V1YHFE/ |

I'm not getting this one anyways — holding off for a cheap U.S. version sooner or later —*but figured this might appeal to somebody. Although apparently it's been even lower, so there's that.

I'd be shocked if the US box goes down to $20 during the holidays, but I sure know that I'd buy it immediately if it did. I'm pretty sure if it went down to $30 tomorrow, I wouldn't even wait longer. |

re: International Blu-ray deals
For those who ordered the Bond 50 set from Amazon.co.uk wondering if this set would be region free, just noticed new information at the Amazon.co.uk site. There is now a breakdown of what is on each disc. 21 of the discs are listed as region free. The Quantum of Solace disc is listed as Region B only. Finally, the 23rd disc (one hour of special features) does not list the region.
Wondering if I should cancel my preorder. I already have Quantum of Solace on Blu, so the only disc I couldn't play might (possibly) be the special features disc. |
re: International Blu-ray deals
So, you want to cancel your order because of a special features disc? If the special features disc is Blu-ray, then it probably is ok. If it's a DVD disc, it's more than likely PAL.

re: International Blu-ray deals
The "Superman Anthology" is back down to 20.97 GBP (about $34 USD shipped).
|
re: International Blu-ray deals
FTR, that Harry Potter set is just the standard versions, it's not like the swag filled box which features the Ultimate Editions for all of the movies.
|
re: International Blu-ray deals
And according to my order history I got it for under $30 shipped a while back. Still unopened :)

$30 or £30? It was exactly £30 shipped last year during it's pre-order and immediate release week, but it's been £5-6 ever since mid January. Or are you talking about a different boxset. |

Region B only :( I'm tempted to buy it anyway, since I'd be saving money. Like you, I already have Quantum of Solace on BD... So I'd just be losing out on the bonus disc. I have a BD burner in my PC, so perhaps I'll find a way to convert it to region free. Never tried that before... |
re: International Blu-ray deals
Not necessarily a deal, but something to keep an eye on. I stumbled upon Red Dwarf X. I didn't even know they shot a new series! It starts airing in the UK October 4, with a BD release of Nov. 19. It is currently 17 pounds. Anyone know if Back to Earth was region free? Same production company, so if that was, this one probably will be as well...
